This is a cute little place with about 6 tables for dining in. We first went here for a Sunday morning brunch after Mass. I had a tomato frittata & American coffee. My husband had the Bacon Frittata Sandwich. Both frittatas were delicious but when I heard the tantalizing crunch as my husband bit into his rustic bread, I instantly regretted not ordering the sandwich. Still, even the no-bread frittata was delicious. Iâve had a lot of frittatas and bad ones are often overcooked. Caffe Italia cooks theirs perfectly: lovely velvety eggs with sliced tomatoes, a sprinkle of Parmigiana, salt & pepper, and fresh mozzarella. My husbandâs bacon was crispy and not greasy. Caffe Italia is on River Road in Shelton. We havenât had lunch or dinner there yet but we intend to. (The sandwiches & dinner plates I saw looked wonderful!) If you drive that road, Iâd highly recommend stopping in. And if you donât drive River Road, you wonât regret going out of your way.
They do Italian right: high quality, simple ingredients cooked perfectly.
They also have refrigerated precooked classic Italian dinners like Chicken or Eggplant Parm, Manicotti, Lasagna, soups like Pasta Fagiole & Escarole Bean as well as Italian pantry fare such as imported olive oil, pasta and sauce â and much more.
Service was excellent: friendly yet professional. Priced very...

I walked in and seemed to be bothering the man working, as he sucked his lips before telling his buddies âI gotta handle this.â Ordered a BACON and egg sandwich. Gentleman confirmed âno cheese?â And I responded âno cheese.â I also ordered a Proscuitto Panini (an Italian PRESSED sandwich) with no cheese. My breakfast sandwich had NO BACON but it did have CHEESE. I have an intestinal issue and cheese causes my stomach to bleed. So guess that was a loss. And my other sandwich wasnt pressed at all.
For the amount I spent, i could have went an extra 10 ft, and given my money to Subway. I would have 2 much larger sandwiches, made the way they were...
