Chaplin is a good spot for a meal. Being new to the area, i decided to take a gamble on this place since the steaks looked appetizing. The ambience was mellowed and the crowd was vibrant. Their bar is well displayed and abundantly stocked. We were seated immediately, and were greeted by our Server Gio (I hope I'm spelling his name right). Gio took great care of us and treated us with the utmost of care. The bar had my favorite drink (old fashioned) on the menu, done with Four Roses bourbon. I must admit..... the old-fashioned lacked to a degree. But it was drinkable. To save my cravings for a good drink and not cringe at my failed old fashion, i ordered four roses neat. Instant save thanks to Gio's attentiveness and professionalism and consideration of my honest critique. All was saved and the exploration continued.
Primarily, I went in gunning for a tomahawk steak but they no longer serve them š„ŗš„ŗš„ŗ (i guess people were not dropping the big bucks on a massive investment like a tomahawk; i sure as all hell intended to) it was discontinued. So i digressed! I ordered their New York Strip steak medium rare and a Steak Tartare. The misses ordered blue crab cakes and Faroe Island Salmon with fingerling potatoes. The Salmon was pan seared, the potatoes were roasted. The crab cakes made my mouth water on sight. The misses said that the crab cakes were on and poppin and did not need the sauce it came with on the side. I'll take her word for it. I seldom sampled the misses meal. Because i had my own to sample and she don't do steak like i do steak (medium rare).
Now Let me tell y'all! The crust on that steak blew my timberland boots right off lol (God i wish the tomahawk was still on the menu). The steak was tempered to perfection and it came served piping hot with a side of mushrooms, sliced spicy pepper and a whole head of slow roasted garlic cooked fork tender. Prior to that though. That Steak Tartare was put together nicely. All the works with a splash of lime and a good quality sea salt. Paired with the toasted bread on the side. Both those dishes were worth the money.
To seal the deal we capped it with a Vanilla Semifreddo. Yeah i too asked Gio what that was and it's basically a spinoff of a parfait. It looked real good when presented at the table and it tasted way better than the normal parfaits i would regularly buy elsewhere.
With all that said, i had a good first experience; i believe the misses did too. We will be coming back. Thanks Gio and our complements...

I recently dined at Chaplin, and what an extraordinary experience it was! From the moment we walked in, the floral and vibrant ambiance set the perfect tone for lunch. The restaurant was impeccably clean, which only added to the overall enjoyment.
Our waiter, David, was fantastic. His recommendations were spot-on, especially when it came to drinks. He suggested a delightful drink combination of dill, cucumber, and gin, expertly crafted by bartender Anastasiia. It was a complex cocktail that tasted absolutely amazing, showcasing her incredible skills behind the bar. The flavors blended beautifully!
For food, we started with the oysters and the beet salad, both of which were out of this world! I was so impressed by the beets that I ordered a second order to take homeātrust me, you don't want to miss out on them! Our main course was the pappardelle veggie pasta special, which was also delicious and bursting with flavor.
This was our first visit to Chaplin, and they truly nailed every aspect of our dining experience. It was clear that the staff, especially David and Anastasiia, are passionate about what they do and genuinely care about their guests. If you are unhappy, they will correct it and they aim to please. I found Jeffs review below to be unreasonable especially after my experience and Im glad I saw through it to give this place a chance. He could've simply asked for the salt and pepper and it was clear he did not. After an item was removed from the bill, the restaurant is trying to make it right yet he still had a chip on his shoulder-some people cant be pleased no matter what. I for one, can't recommend this restaurant enough and will definitely be returning for a second visit. If you are like me, wondering which place to dine in the area, pick this one. This place is a true culinary Gem. Thanks for the great Dining...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe made a reservation for Chaplin for our 10th Anniversary, having been there before we were aware of the set up (high tops, dining room, patio). On OpenTable, the options were restaurant, high tops, patio. We selected restaurant thinking it was safe to assume that meant dining room. Upon checking in for my reservation we were told no that we had not reserved the dining room. Iām sorry but by comparison to the other two options what do I select to reserve dining room? I expressed that we were celebrating our anniversary, the hostess could have cared less and treated us no differently than the other couple that was next too us without a reservation and offered us only the high top or patio. We did not want a high top and decided to try the patio begrudgingly, but as she walked us to the patio we walked right past an open dining room table for two. I asked why we could not sit there and she said because there is a reservation to which I reminded her I had made a reservation for the dining room. We sat at the table on the patio and a short minute later a couple that had walked in after us was seated at the dining room table. This restaurant either needs to make their reservation system clearer or be more accommodating to their clientele. After feeling continuous rain drops hitting us and not being much in the mood to give them our business anymore we decided to leave. Upon reflection I was disappointed looking around that people were dressed so sloppy, it was a nicer somewhat upscale restaurant when it first opened and has since gone downhill along with its service and respect towards customers. The manager did reach out shortly after we left, but I have no desire to give them my...
