I had a disappointing experience at this Somi Somi location. I ordered two upside-down taiyaki ice creams (around $14 total), but one of them was barely half full. When I politely asked the male server (about 5'10", short shaved black hair, no name tag) if he could add more, he refused and said the manager would fire him if he did that—implying the manager was present.
However, when I asked to speak with the manager for a refund, I was told they weren’t there. So not only did I receive less than what was advertised (and what others were getting), the employee lied and used the manager as an excuse to avoid fixing the issue.
It felt like I was being gaslighted while surrounded by other customers receiving proper servings. Thankfully, I eventually got a refund, but the experience was uncomfortable and frustrating. Poor service, inconsistency, and dishonesty should not be part of a $14 dessert. My ice cream is the Ube ice cream, the purple with the taiyaki on top, I included the image of the advertised serving size and 2 $4 vanilla ice creams someone else ordered as a comparison. I could include a picture of the server but I don't believe in doxing people. Also, look at the ice cream in other...
Read moreThis new ice cream spot is absolutely amazing and Woodlands is so lucky to have them open a branch here!
It's very bright and clean and their open hours are great for those looking for a late night sweet treat. The flavors are unique, the waffles are freshly made, and the staff is very friendly.
I was so happy to see so many people here on a Sunday night right before closing and y'all just opened last Friday. Congratulations!
Our faves were the ahboong (fish waffle) with matcha-banana milk swirl and ube cookies n cream swirl. Nutella and red bean filling were amazing. Mint oreo taiyaki was so good too.
I would definitely come back to try the other flavors. They also had really cute pins. I might come back and buy the strawberry milk as well as the mini pin for it.
Perfect place to cool off on a hot Houston day :D
PS. Tons of free parking in the plaza out front. Kid friendly. Wheel chair accessible since there are no steps and plenty of room to...
Read moreOn our first visit, we didn’t know anything about this place but right away, we were helped and the workers all knew exactly what we wanted to know and how to teach us to order. So for service: no less than 5 stars. The environment inside the store was very friendly and we had never seen any place designed the same way with the different chairs and the layout being less boundary based like regular american places. It could use a few more decorations but in general the environment was new and different so 5 stars once again. Now, the reason why we went - the food. The ice cream was incredible and the fish shaped waffle was the star of the show, with it being super soft and noticeably fresh baked, and it adding the most perfect touch to the...
