THE GOOD: -Outstanding service from our waiter ("Tommy"). He was kind, attentive, and so courteous. He most certainly had the patience of a Zen master handling our rowdy party of 10 with a few rambunctious children. There was not a single error in our orders... It's refreshing to find good service these days when dining out, and Tommy was honestly such a gem. THE BAD: Sad to say, but the food was overall pretty low tier. Every sushi roll was wrapped sloppily, with mismatched shapes & forms, nothing aesthetically pleasing, and everything disastrously falling apart with the slightest nudge. The menu was elaborate - with pages upon pages of fancy names of dishes and interesting descriptions of each item. Enticed by the menu (and realizing it was also Happy Hour, woohoo), we sampled several appetizers & rolls. Unfortunately, there was nothing impressive about the taste of any of them. In fact, it was all disappointing compared to similar items found elsewhere... It was all practically grocery store sushi rolls with a bedazzled name, and most of it looked like it was assembled by someone who had taken a single sushi-making class off the internet. That, or they just didn't care. THE UGLY: -Other turn-offs were rickety & unstable tables... -And, there was also questionable black-green goo (mold???) on the ice of one of our drinks. We were so thirsty, we risked it for the biscuit (after our kind server brought us a new drink), but I would think twice about ordering ice in your drinks here. So, shoutout to the stellar waitstaff, especially good guy Tommy. But, "Try harder," for the kitchen crew.

This was my 1st time eating at this restaurant. Apparently it's a place my sister and one of her friends frequent, so they invited me to join them since I was on that side of town. If you know me, you know I'm a foodie who doesn't pass up good eats, so I met them there during their happy hour.🤪 We started with the egg rolls, yaki gyoza pan seared wontons, monkey brain (fried avocado stuffed with spicy tuna, crab, cream cheese, unagi sauce, wasabi mayo) & jalapeño poppers (crab meat, cream cheese, spicy mayo, unagi sauce). The egg rolls were good...would order again. Everything else was just ok. The wontons were browned enough for us snd didn't have much filling inside. The other two appetizers tasted pretty similar to each other as far as flavor & texture. We were trying no sushi items, but the monkey brain & poppers basically tasted like a sushi item. Yes, the word sushi🍣 is in the restaurant's name, BUT we didn't order sushi. Lol. Now the entrée was delicious! We got the teriyaki ribeye, that came with steamed white rice & a vegetable medley of carrots, mushrooms, zucchini & broccoli. I substituted my steamed rice for fried rice & enjoyed every aspect of the meal. Our waitress Ny, was kind, attentive & displayed good customer service. Truly appreciated these days. I will definitely go back when in the Woodlands area.

Going to try my hardest to give this restaurant a fair review. Newer chain restaurant located in the Sam Moon Shopping Center. The restaurant is huge and obviously very clean since it's has just opened. I love the layout and it's a nice restaurant and I will say from the start the service is excellent. However the downside for me was the food. Maybe it's really a place for sushi hence the name but if you are not for sushi this place might not be for you. I ordered the chicken teriyaki from the lunch menu with the miso soup. First I hated seeing mushroom in the miso since 1. Never heard of mushroom being in miso soup and 2. I hate mushroom so I don't like it being there. It was also luke warm and very salty. The chicken teriyaki was the worse I've had. I think the chicken maybe just the frozen one and then they boiled it. The teriyaki sauce was limited but it was sweet so glad there wasn't much of it. The only thing I liked was the rice and steam vegetable minus the mushrooms. Overall, I'm not sure about this restaurant and if I will come back and try. They are quite expensive and the food is not that great.

We came in this evening for the first time for Saturday(!) happy hour. We were seated in the dining room with no wait around 5:30. Nam was our server and was at the table in 1-3 minutes for our drink order. The drinks came out fast and delicious and we quickly ordered a few appetizers while we looked over the extensive menu. Two of us are sushi lovers while one of us prefers cooked options, so we ordered a variety of nigiri ($1.80 on happy hour), a few rolls, and a shrimp fried rice. The crab puffs, gyoza, miso soup, and green salad were all fantastic. The miso soup had plenty of miso and seaweed and the crab puffs and gyoza were full and hot and tasty. The rolls were a good size and very good, and we had leftovers to take home. The viva Las Vegas roll and spicy tuna crunch rolls were especially delicious. The nigiri, however, stole the show. The fish were fresh and the rice was perfectly cooked. They were a great size and were absolutely fantastic for the price. We will definitely be back for the nigiri and fried rice alone. Nam’s service took it over the top, as he made sure our drinks were topped off, tea was hot, and soy sauce was fresh. We did not want for anything and he even boxed our leftovers for us. We were first time patrons but will definitely be back to Top Sushi and recommend highly to anyone in...
