Went to Benny Huie's in Sheridan for lunch, very disappointed. I came in and there were no other customers. Hostess behind counter did not greet me or direct me to a table or ask if I was here for a take out order. Two different tables had plates of food that had been left behind, including tips, dirty dishes ect on the tables. No other customers, but those food things left there. Booths were ok, but the tables with chairs had disturbing plastic over the cushion part and looked beyond tacky. The lighting was very dim. I ordered lunch for take out. Price was decent. I did not get the soup that was part of the lunch that I paid for at Benny Huies. Hostess left after I ordered, did not make small talk or clean up tables....just left. One customer came in, no one greeted her, she looked around a bit and then sat herself down randomly, waited and waited, then she finally got up and found a menu. My order took about 10-15 minutes, this lady was there at least 5-7 minutes with no greeting, no water, no tea, no customer service until just as I was getting ready to leave. 15 minutes after I arrived, the food that was on the two tables when I arrived was still on the tables when I left. The food was acceptable but the fried rice wasn't fried it was mushy, but for a little further drive to McMinnville and just for 1 dollar more at Yan's Chinese Restaurant I would have gotten 3 times as much and 2 side dishes in addition to soup. When I order at Yan's I have enough left over food for 1 or 2 more meals, and I am a big hearty eater. So in conclusion Benny Huies- 1 mushy side of fried rice, no soup, horrible customer service. Yan's, further drive, lunch costs 1 dollar more but generously portioned sides of excellent beef chow mein and delicious pork fried rice and choice of sweet and sour soup or egg flower soup and 2 crab puffs...in addition to entree. Much much better deal, much better service, over all, well worth the drive to go to Yan's in the future. I will not be returning to Benny Huie's...
Read moreBenny Huie's in Sheridan Oregon was a nice little surprise in my visit to this small town west of McMinnville, Oregon along hwy 18. The food was shockingly well prepared for what I'd describe as a very nondescript facade. We ordered many of the dishes on the menu and not one of them failed to impressive in the quality of preparation. Any dish that had bbq pork that we're all familiar with will be surprised with how moist and tender each slice is. The freshness, crispness, and flavor of any saute'ed vegetables is maintained while properly cooking out the harsh raw flavor many of them can possess. Any of the typical sauces we've all come to expect and from American Chinese food are pleasantly light, flavorful, and properly seasoned to make satisfy anyone's expectations of their dish. Among the dishes ordered were pork fried rice, happy family, house lo mein, crab puffs, egg rolls, pot stickers, szechuan beef, beef with broccoli, orange chicken, chicken fried rice, chicken yaki soba noodles and possibly more. Seriously, the food was an very noteworthy surprise in it's quality. So much so I will make it a point to return here even if it means driving an extra 15 minutes past McMinnville to do so. It's worth the consideration if you're in the area. I was with a party of 7 and the place was almost empty, so we had the near full attention of our bartender/waitress who was very friendly, prompt, and thorough in her service. The interior atmosphere isn't something to brag about and many people have commented that it feels dirty. I won't argue that point, but condition of the building exterior and interior seem to be mutually exclusive to the quality of the food. A real hidden gem or diamond in the rough as...
Read moreI walk using a walker so the first thing i notice about a business is rather or not their door or doors are heavy or lite and Benny Huie's door is very heavy. So, no kudos for them because they are not handicap friendly! The second thing I noticed when getting through the door was how dark the lighting was. There were booths all over the restaurant so the inside of it was big in size. The waitress greeted me right away, I like it when that happens because it makes me feel important. She seated me in a coner booth which, was alright with me because then my walker is not in anyones way. The waitress brought me tea and a menu. I looked over the menu and they had quite a bit to offer. I ended up getting a plate of chowmein. it didn't take long for my order to arrive to my table. The chowmein was very good but I had to ask for a to go box because I couldn't eat all of it. The waitress brought me my check along with my fortune cookie. I went up to the cash register to pay my bill and then I stopped by the table and left a tip. Then said good-bye to the waitress and she help me get...
