I took my wife & child to Jo's Diner at least 5 days per week for the past two years. During that time, I've seen the cook/owner, Alex, bully the customers, waitresses, ruin the moods of the staff with his attitude.
I order the same food combination each time -- a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant, with the egg, over-easy, on the side. I dont eat eggs due to a food aversion, but my wife does. Since the croissant is $6, with or without the egg, I order it on the side so she can have it.
This time, my croissant comes out with the egg on it, yolk busted and running all into the bread, rather than on the side. I sent it back, noting that I'd requested the egg on the side. It was returned to me with the egg off the croissant, set aside, but yolk still all soaked into the bread. I sent it back again and requested a different croissant since the yolk was still soaked all into the bread.
I was told that if I wanted a different croissant, I would have to pay for an additional croissant to be made correctly, in addition to the one that was made incorrectly.
We got up and left, after having words with Alex about it, and won't be back again. A $6 croissant is more important to the owner than customer loyalty, customer satisfaction, and correcting his mistake.
Alex blamed the waitress, of course, and said she took the order wrong. Of course that must be the case since Alex is incapable of making a mistake...
NEVERTHELESS, It doesn't matter if it's the cook's mistake or the order taker's. IT SHOULD NOT FALL ON THE CUSTOMER TO PAY FOR MISPREPARED FOOD DUE TO SOMEONE...
Read moreIt's hard to review local businesses sometimes. When you don't give a small diner good feedback, it's even worse. I like to support local businesses and I really like to give good reviews but I honestly can't. The food is okay and I've never had anything there that wasn't good enough to eat. The problem is the service. The employees can often be seen sitting at tables on their phones when you need a refill and will literally argue back and forth about who has to serve your table... In front of you. They also nickel and dime you for every little thing. When they first opened, it was not like this. The staff was friendly and excited but the last 3 times I've been there, they did not seem to care about keeping my business. I hope this changes and things...
Read moreOrdered a vegetable omelette. When I took my fourth bite, I got a piece of plastic in my mouth and halfway down my throat. After I coughed it back up & determined it was a piece of plastic. I sent the Dish back and asked them to take it off my ticket as I’d also only take four bite. The owner said, loud enough from the kitchen for me to hear, “It’s an onion peel. Ask him if he wants something else, but he’s paying for it.” I KNOW the difference between an onion peel & plastic.
The food is not that good, the service is adequate and the owner is not a nice guy. Eat here at your own risk. (I did pay for the meal because I wasn’t going to let him...
