I have never left a review at a restaurant but i feel obligated to given my experience. The food was pretty good - 15$ for a sandwich and fries is steep when there are other Tex-Mex restaurants 2 miles away offering the same dish for 1/3 of that but I digress. I have a seafood/shellfish allergy and there are no warnings of cross contamination on the menus, on the website, or in the store. To be clear this is not legally required, but to even find seafood on their website menu, you have to scroll to the bottom, something I didn't see until later after some googling. I ordered Al Pastor, a meat typically spit-roasted so I’m not sure how it even got cross-contaminated in the first place. Additionally, in my sandwich was 2 small pieces of bone but hey, mistakes happen. If you have ever had a food allergy you know exactly what it is when it hits you. Even in mild cases like mine your blood pressure drops, you get anxiety and have trouble focusing, and you get hives and jittery feelings. So imagine my surprise when I get the sudden symptoms of this going 75 on the highway going back to work.
Cross contamination of meats is more than a violation of food safety, or even a lawsuit. It is life or death for those of us who are allergic. Even though my face doesn’t swell up and go into shock, I could get in a car accident from the sudden symptoms and seriously harm myself or others.
Bruno’s owner/administration, please make common allergy notes on the online menus.
TLDR : If you have any seafood allergies stay away from this place.
Update since owner replied: The Sergio Lopez Food allergy awareness act (Texas State Senate bill #812) requires restaurants to place a notice on their menus asking customers to inform the restaurant of any allergies.
I have medical documentation showing i am exclusively allergic to seafood. Im happy you can check a business app but you have no idea what day i ordered as the group order was through a business account. You couldn’t possibly know when or how contamination happened unless you personally made every part of the meal. Your comment regarding my order is a lie as my order is not traceable through any details in this comment.
Stop blaming me for your restaurant having poor allergy practices. Certifications mean nothing if you dont follow their guidelines.
Texas legislation shows that if you cannot prevent cross contamination, you must inform the customer. You can address this issue by adding allergy awareness of cross contamination to your online menus. I am not accusing you, Im informing you and other customers that you failed in your duty to protect customers when eating your food. Eating here for me was a life threatening event.
ps 14$ x.0825 sales tax = 14.75 sorry...
Read moreFood was good for this area.. There aren't a lot of options for cevice in mexican restaurants in grayson county.. But anyone from texas will tell you that tacos grow on trees here..
As usual, it was a typical. Commercial retail space in the strip center, But once you came inside and you met the waithe spoke the best broken english, I knew the food was going to be good..
Having to go healthy. I chose the cevice' which is always a hitter miss out in the country, And I chose the 2 little items that come on a hockey puck thing made of mesa topped with some fresh taco like filling goodness that I really can't remember.. sorry no pics.. bad for a photographer I know..
The price was cool and felt good paying.. the lady was sweet and my party of 7 were all taken care of by one lady.. both my items were good I would honestly say, I will have them again as I now Like meals that are light and taste good in a nice environment. Where I don't have to tip or feel guilty tipping in front of a server..
The last thing a restaurant should be about is a tip. It should be about the experience in today's economy with how few these opportunities are becoming and our expectations for what they are when we're spending the time and money to go and visit..
I'm sorry I can't give you guys 5 stars. That doesn't mean you're not great at what you do. It just means I have really high standards. And this is out in the country. I can't expect you guys to be on par with a city that generates a 100 billion dollars a year in restaurant business. This little wonderful escape in Sherman. Is exactly what it should be...
Good food in a good place in a decent environment with good serviyes, and the prices are right where they should be, maybe Even a little low from what I've been seeing out there for pricing. But that's just enough for me to go back again...
Read moreY'all don't sleep on Bruno's Mexican Kitchen in Sherman! Me being a big critique on food, I wanted to give them a try because I seen so many posts about them. I'm sure glad we did. I've been to MANY Mexican restaurants and this is it. I'm from California and it's very hard to find good authentic Mexican food restaurants.
This place is the CLEANEST restaurant I've been in EVER. The place is IMMACULATE. Very cozy and inviting. The atmosphere is amazing. The seating is comfy and have tvs to watch while eating. The smell outside of the food cooking lures you in.
The chips and salsa were absolutely fresh and amazing. Thin, crispy and warm as they should be. We ate two baskets of chips and salsa🤣
The guacamole was made to order and enough for 2 people or one who really loves guac like me.
The salsa fresca was not spicy and had a great fresh flavor. They do have Verde salsas as well. The salsa fresca was not "sweet" as some are I've had at others places.
We got the steak nachos and Chile relleno burrito that was HUGE. They actually use huge, fresh poblano peppers. I've had a alot of Chile relleno's around here and this place here is hands down the freshest, authentic and the best. You can tell the food is cooked with love, patience and passion. All the ingredients are so fresh and it's all cooked to order. The rice inside was fluffy and seasoned to perfection. The steak is so tender and seasoned with the right amount of spices.
The queso on the nachos was the best restaurant queso around here in our opinion. Not watery and full of flavor.
The waitresses were ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We definitely found out new favorite spot.
Also, you will need a wheelbarrow or assistance to get out to your car from being so full😂😂
I would give this place 10 stars.
Go give this place a try! You...
