Went to Tracks for the first time today with 3 other people. It's a cute place, the servers were very nice, quick and friendly. I like the place, it had some great history and a vibe to it. The food wasn't my favorite, mostly because it lacked flavor.
we ordered the trio appetizer, they were cooked fully, a nice color but the batter of all the fried food had no flavor, none, no salt, no nothing. It was bland and the ranch looked old. I went to the mens room when I came back, my ranch had a layer of oil on top. Not good. While I really wanted to love the app, there was just no flavor to it, just tasted like fried flour.
I thought, okay, no biggie, my Chicken Fried chicken sandwich with tator tots is going to ROCK. But it didn't, the chicken was overcooked, dry. UGH. And the bun it was served on was cold, WHAT!!! Okay, still, I thought my tots, you can't go wrong with them,. They were also overcooked. You know how they are supposed to be just a tad soft in the middle, these were fried all the way through.
As not to upset the rest of my party, I said I was full from the morning meal so that it wouldn't look bad that I only took one bite of my sandwich.
Now, my brothers patty melt was very good, it was moist, juicy. but it was his. Another guy had a baked potato that he prepared with his fixings, that was good.
I don't think I will return. It was very popular among the senior community, maybe the food is targeted for...
Read moreBased on other reviews i thought this place was a dedicated burger joint. Its actually a family diner. The waitress said the most popular was chicken fried steak, her favorite was chicken fried chicken. Since i came here in the mood for a burger thats what i ordered. They cost about 8.00 and do not come with a side. I ordered the mushroom swiss burger kinda hard to find in these parts and true to my MN roots i got a side of sour cream with it. Dont knock it until you try it. The burger was decent but nothing to write home about. By itself it wasnt enough food but i also ordered the fried pickles as an app. The basket was filled. If you get them, bring a friend! Theres very few things i miss about CA but the ability to order a burger cooked to call doneness is certainly one of them. Im not sure how being in the beef capital of the country OK and TX require burgers to be served well done. Its a travesty. The burger at tracks had some moisture left im it but it was still served with the regions signature gray well done hue. Service was good. Lots of young kids work here which is neat, nice to see they still do that these days. My only other complaint is while the train decor is a nice tough, its got a fair amount of dust around it. You can see they try, but since it isnt preserved in a case no minimum wage under tipped waitress is gonna labor over the nooks and crannies of...
Read moreNice to come for the atmosphere and that's really it. First let me by stating that the staff are excellent. Last couple of times the service was always on point with anything you needed. But the real shocker was the execution of the flavor and presentation of the food. A bland burger and under cooked fries that were coated in oil. The onion rings were a home made breading that lacked the flavor of what you would think an onion ring would taste like.
Why I rated 3 *'s The first three stars were based on service, atmosphere, and as a double edged sword is the price. A basic hamburger for 5.99 is justified but read on to understand by this also a negative.
Where two stars were taken away were because of the blandness of the food and the confusing price. As a warning, any side is NOT included in an entree. They are separate ticketed items. For example burger and fries are actually $8.49. Not 5.99 for a hamburger listed. I know some people would say "well why didn't you read it thoroughly." Well I'm 26 and I would assume ordering an entree would include it but doesn't so just be warned and not surprised when the check comes.
Takeaway from this, I would come again. Not really for the food but because of the service. Mary who waited on us was johnny on the spot with anything me and my berry needed so A+ for...
