Señor Tequila (Sherwood) — Restaurant in Sherwood

Good food, good atmosphere. Something about this restaurant has this vibrance that you don't experience in other places. Hearing the Mexican music play in the background, the dishes smacking together and the lighting inside the restaurant really creates an atmosphere that I have get to experience anywhere else. The food for the most part is good and the only thing that stops me from giving this 5 stars is the lack of consistency in the service. 4/5 the service is great and the staff is friendly. It's that one time that it doesn't always feel that way. Sometimes it's the staff, sometimes it's the service of quality of the service that you're paying for to recieve. To further explain this I'll use an example (that has happened to me multiple times) Most of the time the staff is great, helpful and friendy. Sure, they might mess up an order every now and then, maybe forget the sauce you asked for or forgot to give you your straw but we all make mistakes. We're only human, that's entirely forgivable and usually they will accommodate for any mistakes that have been made on their part. It's that one rare time that the staff just appears displeased, angry, unmotivated and unhelpful. I've noticed this in a few specific workers but what can you do? That's for management to handle but luckily, I tend to have more luck by getting the better waitresses or waiters which is fortunate. Other things worth mentioning is when you call in ahead of time to get a quick meal to go and they leave out the cheese dip you ordered, or only put a ring scoope of beans in with your meal. These are the kind of things that anger me and have been experiencing recently which has discouraged me from going but I will give it the benefit of the doubt and that it just tough luck and I caught them at a bad time. However, this is not always excusable, especially when it's becoming the point where it happens often enough that customer satisfaction is beginning to decline and it is your job to make sure you get orders right and make sure your customers are satisfied. It's been rather disappointing but just as I've had bad experiences here recently, I've had more good ones here before and thus I will not rate this restaurant anything below a 4. The food itself is pretty tasty, it could be better somedays (once again that lack of consistency) and if you're looking for an extremely authentic Mexican restaurant this probably isn't your place. But does that mean just skip it? No. Because despite this not being as authentic as a perhaps a Taqueria it still retains a vast amount of authenticity and quite honestly, it doesn't need to gave the same level of authenticity that a Taqueria would. As a Mexican, I can this establishment is authentic enough and Mexican approved. The food here is more of a take on modern Mexican rather than traditional Mexican but that's a good thing, it's nice to have this style and blend of food rather than just something that we've seen before time and time again (I'm looking at you TexMex) So bottom line, You're going to find authentic Mexican food here, just more of a modern take on it and perhaps only slightly and I mean very slightly Americanized. If you manage to get good service here, you cant beat the atmosphere this place provides, from the Banda that plays over the speakers and the fancy, beautiful lighting I'd say this is truly one of central Arkansas' finer attractions in the Sherwood area that also doesn't quite break the...

Interior was ok, but basic diner with Hispanic decor. For a place named "Senor Tequila", I kind of expected a Tequila menu, or even a Margarita menu. If they have one, none was provided. I've had much better Mexican inspired food at other restaurants, however the red sauce was nice and tasted like it was made in house. We got a sampler, it was supposed to have buffalo wings (straight of a bottle bbq sauce), a cheese quesadilla, two taquitos and nachos. If I hadn't added several items to the quesadilla (like tomatoes, jalapenos) it would not have had flavor. The beef taquito was decent, the shredded chicken taquito was dry and flavorless. The nachos were tortilla chips, watery refried beans and a little cheese. My enchiladas supremas, bland and underseasoned, red sauce was the highlight, I also got a taco, it was pretty good. My wife got a combo plate with cheese enchilada, bean burrito and rice. All bland and underseasoned, again red sauce was the star. My daughter chose chicken fajita nachos off the app menu. Those were ok, and while it is a "fajita" nacho, the Fajita sized veggies made it difficult to eat. The lack of Fajita flavor knocked it down a peg as well, but portion was generous. We all had iced tea and spent over $65 for this meal. Service was lackluster and was incomprehensible, not because of a language barrier, but because our server whispered and never repeated anything back to us, making us uncertain if she got what we said. Food is good, some things are a little bland, but it's one of the most consistent places I've found. Tacos are not my style, bland. But they have a good Taco Salad.

My restaurant interpretation of the 5🌟 rating system (feel free to use):

I started using this because I don't like seeing standard restaurants with 5🌟. If I see 5🌟 I expect more than standard. Also adjusted for type of business. Sit down restaurants are skewed and critiqued accordingly in comparison to fast food. My wife kept getting on to me for being too critical.

1🌟 = DUMP…. NEVER AGAIN I DON'T CARE IF IT IS FREE (wish there was a no star option). The food you would feed a prisoner, only if you didn’t like them. 2🌟 = Crap, fast food...... Only for If you are in a hurry, tight on $, and/or in a rush. (Think big chain places with $1 menu, not HORRIABLE, and sometimes a decent food comes out). 3🌟 = Okay, worth going on a regular, but has room to improve (Think frequent work lunch spot, Rarely less than Okay, usually Good to really good food) 4🌟 = Very good, favorite "common" places. Nothing EXCEPTIONAL. (Think casual date, Nicer Chain restaurants usually, occasional surprisingly good Fast food) 5🌟 = Reserved for EXTREMELY high quality and/or Exceptional, and  Places that surprise me.
