Happy Place Cafe — Restaurant in Shorewood

I live nearby and have stopped in several times for breakfast. I have always thought the staff needed to cheer up a bit and that they were less than attentive. So, today confirmed that. When I ordered the country skillet that is supposed to come with country gravy. When it arrived it hard barely any on it. I point out to the server that there is no gravy I would expect her to look at it and agree that there was very little gravy. She said oh sure there is gravy there and then a moment or two later she realized she was completely wrong and offered to get more gravy. It was as if lightning struck. She left to get it, helped other customers, then glanced at me realizing she forgot to get the gravy and finally brought over luke warm gravy to put on my now luke warm meal. I really don't want to drag you under the bus during Covid but you simply missed the boat when you initially acted like the gravy was there. It wasn't. The cashier asked how everything was. I said OK. She said just OK? I said well you really don't want to hear it but.......I explain. She said she would talk to the server and cook. That's great. I won't be back. So my husband and I went in there last night November 14th to have a. Quick dinner. It was 8:30 the open sign was flashing open we walked in and the servers were sitting at the bar. The chairs were already upside down on the tables the place was empty. The server looked at me discussing Langham said we're getting ready to close at 9. I asked if they were still serving she said no but the hostess came out she said after talking to the Cook that we could go ahead and have a seat. My husband said we should go he felt very uncomfortable as did I it was like we were inconveniencing the whole restaurant of people employees of being there. when I turned to leave and exited the building I noticed that the servers were putting their coats on ready to exit the building very disappointed as I enjoy happy place food but won't be back.either you're open until 9 or you're close at 8:30 you can't be open and have chairs sitting on the table ready to be vacuumed if you're open until 9 that stuff you do after your clothes their servers...

This place wasn’t happy at all. The host was not welcoming at all. They have very little seating for parties to wait. The hostess did not write our names down and told us it would be a 15 minute wait. She let a party the same size as us, Who came in after us go before us. . The waitress we had was just too young. She didn’t introduce herself. She was very uncomfortable with her job which made the whole meal more uncomfortable. She handed me a super hot plate and continuously reached over food on the table. I asked for napkins she came back with 3 for my table of 3. We was not personable at all! The waitress didn’t even come back to our table till the food came, i was unable to get any refills. I feel bad for her because she was just a kid but it definitely reflected poorly on the business. Only go here if you want to leave The Happy Place, unhappy. .
