My wife and I have visited Bella Fresca several times over the last couple of years, for lunch and dinner. Every time, the service has been attentive but not overbearing, the food excellent, and the ambience calm. We love it. My only complaint would be that the sign is too small or muted; I almost miss it every time.

Our favorite dishes to date: crusted halibut on risotto (tomato risotto one time, lemon risotto the next), scallops on pork belly on grits, filet mignon, beef Wellington. The beef Wellington was a special and absolutely perfect. I was a bit perturbed when there were only three scallops on my plate when I ordered the scallops on pork belly, but by the time I finished the second, I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to finish the third; it was delicious and very rich.

Bella Fresca isn’t inexpensive by Shreveport standards, but I think it’s more than reasonable. The lunch menu is, in my opinion, a bargain; they serve lunch-sized portions, and we walk out not feeling overstuffed, just well fed. A surprisingly good little restaurant with professional wait staff & manager. They helped me with a group of 8, in a sensitive situation, on a tight time schedule, and all the food came out all at the same time, right on schedule, as promised. Not easy for most small restaurants to pull off, with all the other customers. This place was upscale, but Louisiana friendly, without pretentions. And the famous locals who you see here are in the secret. The food is creative & well prepared. Try out the fried green tomato B.L.T., with unexpected horseradish cream, or the fried shrimp PO-Boy with some Chipotle added to the remoulade. The salads are generous. And try one of their risottos if it's on the menu. Too bad we couldn't stick around for their happy hour, because their appetizers & drinks menu looked like a Happy Deal.
