Where do I even begin with Superior Bar & Grill in Shreveport? Honestly, I’ve had so many unforgettable experiences here that writing this review feels more like penning a love letter to a place that’s been the backdrop for hundreds of my best nights, best meals, and best margarita-induced belly laughs. If walls could talk, Superior’s would have some stories… and probably a few secrets I hope never surface. From the very first time I stepped foot into Superior, I knew I was in for something special. There’s this vibe... a perfect mix of lively, laid back, and just the right amount of chaos that somehow always works. It’s the kind of place where you feel instantly at home, even if it’s your first time, and completely spoiled if you’re a regular. And believe me, I’m a regular with tenure at this point. Let’s talk ambiance first. The Shreveport location has this electric charm that’s impossible to replicate. Whether you’re chilling on the covered patio with live music dancing in the background or squeezed into white table cloth covered tables and chairs inside during peak dinner madness, it always feels like you’re exactly where you need to be. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Friday night or a lazy Tuesday... the energy is buzzing, the drinks are flowing, and someone nearby is probably celebrating something. Speaking of drinks... let’s take a moment to communicate to those from out of town about Superior’s margaritas. These things are legendary for a reason. They’re dangerously smooth, perfectly balanced, and strong enough to make you consider texting your ex and ordering that third plate of nachos. Don’t do either, obviously, but know that Superior’s margs will have you feeling bold in the best way possible. And don’t sleep on their frozen ones either... they’re the adult version of a summer slushie and go down way too easy on a hot Louisiana day. Now, onto the food, because let’s be honest... it’s the real MVP. The chips are served warm and come with that addictive salsa that somehow disappears every time you "just want a few." The "Original" queso? Liquid magic. I’ve had dreams about it. I’ve canceled other dinner plans because I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It’s cheesy, velvety, and downright habit-forming. And the rest of the menu? Built to impress. The fajitas come out sizzling like they’re trying to start a conversation. The tacos never miss. The enchiladas feel like a hug from someone who really, really gets you. I don’t know what they do back there in that kitchen (even though you can see right back in there), but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s margarita magic being sprinkled into the food. Clearly, I'm coming back again and I recommend you do the same.

Wow. Not a pleasant dinner at all. Very, VERY loud. We went on a busy Friday night and expected a wait time. Unfortunately, it was so loud that the hostess must have misheard my phone number and after waiting 15 minutes beyond the wait time the hostess told us to expect, I approached her and asked how much longer she thought it would be. She said, "oh, we texted you a while ago." I double checked my phone. No text. Yikes. Not a great start to our evening out. When I went to sit down at our table, I felt something slimy under my feet. It was an entire bottle of ketchup, broken, with glass shards everywhere under my chair and the table. My husband had to take my flip flops to the men's bathroom and wash them while I held my bare feet up off the floor and the man who bussed tables cleaned it up. If they said they were sorry for the mess and the ketchup all over my shoes, I didn't hear them. It looked like a murder scene. Ugh. You can't make this stuff up. We got the combo steak and chicken fajitas and the steak, maybe the carne asada. The meat was very good. The fajitas would have been better with cheese alongside the guacamole and Pico. Our waiter was missing in action for well over 10 minutes. Not sure where he went, but he came back after I flagged down a hostess to ask about him. He was nice when he did come back. We spent $94 for two people with tip. Two entrees, one iced tea, one iced water, and no alcohol, no appetizers. This experience was not worth that cost.

This was my second trip to Superior Grill and I loved it both times. We were seated right away and chips & salsa were brought to the table quickly. The chips are the very thin yellow corn variety that my wife loves. The salsa to me is one of the best around but my wife wished it had more cilantro. We ordered the combination chicken & steak fajitas. Rice and tortilla soup were brought before the rest of the meal which really gave us 3 courses. I must say, the fajitas were amazing. By far the best I've had in the Shreveport/Bossier area. Both the steak and the chicken were thick cut strips of quality meat and not the straggly scraps that most places call fajitas. The kicker was the melted butter. You certainly can’t go wrong with that! The only real downside to our visit was it took a while for our waiter to take our order because he was getting another order out of the kitchen. He even acknowleged that which made it better. And plus who cares when you've got good chips & salsa to munch on. This was my second time back and I have loved it both times. This is a more pricey place than your average Mexican joint but I feel you are getting higher quality food. I'll definitely be back and this will be my choice for high quality Mexican food in Shreveport.
