We really enjoy Captain D's, but this visit, (6 p.m. on January 20th, at their NEW location in Shreveport), was truly superior. Besides the rare & wonderful experience of nothing being MISSING from our big order, (ALL the entrees, kid's meals, drinks & all the sides & bread choices were correct), plus the food was fresh, hot & tasty, (NOT tough, NOT chewy & NOT over or under-cooked 🥰👍🤝👏😁). I loved & applauded how pleasant, detail-oriented, accurate, thorough and understanding the drive-thru attendant/cashier/customer relations lady was, as she performed the duties of her role. It is so rare to ask for 6 things, condiment-wise, & not manage to tick off the employee at a fast food pickup window. I always assume I won't get everything I requested, nor will I receive extra of the things I specified needing 'EXTRA' of. She didnt mind at all,) no grimace or rolling of the eyes), she was peaceful, not harried, & conscientious. She stayed engaged with us, as she packed the order up & gathered all the condiments I wanted. She politely informed us, just as an FYI, that they were now serving customers in the dining room, if that was of interest to us. It VERY much interested us. After we enjoyed this big, inexpensive, accurate, yummy meal with our grandchildren & a daughter on that night, we made plans to return & bring the whole group for Sunday lunch, after worship services, OFTEN! So, this Youree Drive location used to be a Dairy Queen. Our big family group often ate at that DQ, because the site is so close to the church building. They were open on Sundays & affordable & cooked your food to order, plus they had a LOT of menu choices. (DW had a couple of healthier choices, like grilled chicken, salads & banana splits! 🤔? (jk😋) All those same 'DRAWS' describe this excellent Captain D's restaurant, BUT they have MORE healthy choices than any other fast food place I have been to eat! They a nice selection of grilled items! (Various fish, chicken & even yummy grilled SHRIMP skewers.) Oh, yeah, and the sides options actually satisfy all 9 members of our family group, which makes us HAPPY! They have green beans, broccoli, side salads, the LONG, buttered ears of corn on the cob, plus white rice, seasoned rice, baked potatoes, FRIED OKRA, coleslaw & french fries. (IF they served cabbage & black-eyed peas to go with those tasty hush puppies, I'd rhink it was heavenly! Other suggestions would be a homemade 3-bean salad, or seasoned, marinated, 🍅 & 🥒salad, fried or grilled squash, steamed asparagus, mushrooms, grilled skewered veggies, and maybe even a great Bush's bean flavor. 😊. As you can tell, I feel 5 👍👍👍👍👍is what this Shreveport Captain D's service & food earned, as their rating. I just HOPE whatever formula of management, training, dedication or inspiration is responsible for this quality product & fantastic service will stay on this trajectory. They'll have a juggernaut on their hands, if they hold to this course, instill the highest service delivery principles in their associates and, most importantly, DO NOT MAKE BAD HIRES, & don't KEEP mediocre hires. The Bible says that bad company corrupts good character, which means that onebad apple, if not PROMPTLY removed from the bag or barrel, will ruin the entire bunch. God knows we see it in produce all the time, but even more often in schools, businesses, neighborhoods & families. You have try to help family members, but a restaurant is not the place to run a REFORM program for bad employees or a bad character! A week is too long to keep a surly, sarcastic, or lazy on a job. A mandatory rules of behavior discussion, then having the candidate read the rules of behavior document out loud, (all on THEIR TIME), before they sign it, will weed out some folks. They sign the ROB, then you talk about open roles & compensation. Intolerance, lying, blaming, tardiness, poor hygiene, foul language, hostility, stealing, offending customers, rage, violence, apathy & insolence are all banned; watch faces carefully for micro-expressions, during ROB discussion. You...
Read morePulled into the drive-thru as we left the bookstore next door, because the parking lot was nearly empty and we figured it'd be quick. Nope. Employee mumbling over loudspeaker. No drink order was taken when we ordered combos... Is Captain D's the only chain which doesn't include drinks with combos? Anyway, no drinks were served, either, so... Consistency, I guess? Despite us being the only people in the drive-thru, and with apparently next to no one in the dining area, we waited 20 minutes for service after ordering at the drive-thru and pulling to the window. After 10-15 minutes, the girl finally comes and takes my money, even though we watched her fiddling around restocking something from boxes the whole time in plain view of the window. Took another 5-10 minutes to bring our food... Again, with no drinks, and I wasn't about to add another ten minutes into our wait time by inquiring.
Fish was pretty nasty, tasted like mud. Hush puppies were marginal- very little crunch, just big spongy fluffballs with a sweet pastry-like taste. The fries buried at the bottom of the box were not terrible but not good, and very...
Read moreOnline order..they escalated from time to ASAP..fine..get to drive thru..said pick up order has to come inside. Clarification..be sure you say correct thing. They need to check if I'm picking up or delivery service..didn't check order # at speaker. Purpose of my order was for drive-thru & I wouldn't have to get masked up & get out & go in. Guy friendly..lady not so much. So I'm a few minutes late, traffic when turning little congested. However, it's not ready. I'll have to update if good later. WELL..update..I got Catfish Feast dinner. IT Was Very Good!! Got fries, broccoli, coleslaw, hush puppies & tarter sauce. I have a little of everything left. I was really hungry but will have to finish later....
