I ate here when I was very much younger and was kinda excited to eat here again. My husband and I stopped by for lunch since we were in town. The decor was a little shocking to say the least but we decided to give it a try. The waitress came and took our order. That's when we really started looking around. The ceiling is decorated with what looks like old Christmas tree limbs intertwined with artificial grape vines and Christmas lights with grape bunches hanging down. THEN... there are Japanese Lanterns hanging down. Upon a closer look the very outdated ceiling garlands are covered in a very thick layer of dust and grime. (See pictures) The waitress then brought a basket of toasted bread and marinara sauce for dipping. The marinara was a little on the sweet side for our liking but we thought ok, the entrée would balance it out. He ordered the shrimp Alfredo. The shrimp were cooked good and he said they were tasty but the Alfredo sauce was less the amount than he expected and it was very grainy. I ordered the lunch Lasagna. It arrived and I was surprised at the large portion. The only drawback was it was drowning in a pool of sauce. The same marinara sauce!! After a few bites I was thankful for the sauce because the Lasagna was very dry. It had plenty of layers but very little, if any, sauce between the layers. If the sauce had been more savory I probably could have eaten more. It was hard to relax and try to enjoy anything when you're afraid a dust bunny from the ceiling may decide to hop down on your plate. It's time to replace the 70's decor!!

Yes! This was delicious! A few things to share. I visited around 7pm in a Tuesday. The restaurant is dimly lit and has unique decor. I was seated promptly. My server Allison was polite & very attentive. All of the staff is friendly. I ordered the Cajun tomato toast and the Little Sicily. They brought out bread and what I’m guessing is the signature red sauce for the table. The bread was a bit hard/tough even for a toasted baguette. But the sauce was really good, sweet tomato sauce. My tomato toast was prepared with the same tough bread, so I cut it up and ate it with a fork and it was perfect when in bite size pieces. The seasoning in the toast was delicious and the tomatoes were fresh! .... then came the Little Sicily! YUUUUUMMM! This is not a fine dining experience...meaning it is plated like a good home cook who is more concerned with good food than pretty plates made it. And that is exactly what you should expect-good home cooking! OMG! Flavor explosion! The sauce was so packed with flavor! I was eating the cheese ravioli and peppers and onions and then remembered there was shrimp and sausage too. Just delicious! I’m traveling for business but when I come back, this is on my must have list! I was mad that I got full and couldn’t keep eating! If you’re thinking about coming here...DO IT!

It doesn’t have to be so sweet! Excellent food and service!! So we had read the reviews and my hubby does not like sweet spaghetti so we mentioned that to the waitress. She explained that they have a basil marinara too that’s not sweet and more savory. She was amazing and said she would bring both with our bread so we could see which he liked better. The basil sauce was amazing with small chunks of tomatoes and delightful flavor. He loved the Italian sampler. He was able to get the spaghetti and Lasagna topped with the Basil sauce. I had the chicken Aurora and it too was amazing and super cheesy. Service was great. Was an hour drive, but we will definitely be making that trip again.

Monjunis Cafe in Shreveport offers a delightful dining experience, and I would gladly give it four stars for several reasons:

Delicious Shrimp Appetizer: The shrimp appetizer at Monjunis Cafe is an absolute standout. It's prepared to perfection, with a burst of flavors that leave your taste buds craving for more. Whether you're a seafood enthusiast or not, this dish is a must-try.

Sampler Entree: The sampler entree is an ingenious concept that allows you to savor a bit of everything Monjunis has to offer. It's perfect for those who enjoy variety in their meal. From pasta to seafood and beyond, this entree gives you a taste of the diverse and delightful flavors this restaurant has to offer.

Cozy Ambiance: The restaurant exudes a cozy and inviting ambiance, making it a great place for a family dinner or a casual date night. The warm lighting and rustic decor create a comfortable atmosphere for diners.

Friendly Staff: The staff at Monjunis Cafe is attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall dining experience. They are knowledgeable about the menu and can offer recommendations, which is always a plus.

Generous Portions: The portions here are generous, ensuring you won't leave hungry. It's an excellent value for your money, considering the quality and quantity of food you receive.

While Monjunis Cafe offers a delightful dining experience with delicious shrimp appetizers and the sampler entree, there's a minor aspect that keeps me from rating it a full five stars. However, it remains a great option for those looking for a tasty meal in a...

It is almost perfection in Italian food. Wow whete do I begin we had garlic bread sticks and sauce. Marvelous but. They used to give you complimentary toasted bread crisps and sauce. They bring out 3 pieces of half slice bread criss and sauce with meal or if you ask them and are a regular. Shame them they knew I was asking for the free stuff but played dumb and brought me larger bread sticks not as crispy and not as much sauce. They make a sweet marinara sauce. I don't like their sweet as much I did the basil sauce. They have a marvelous shrimp salad big enough for 2 and loaded with shrimp slightly spicy. My hubby likes the shrimp toast appetizer. He eats as his meal. 4 slices of bread brushed olive oil with garlic piled high with fat shrimp then marinara sauce with cheese melted on top. He does not share. I like a dish called shrimp aurora. This dish is big enough for 2. A large platter/bowl is first loaded with mozzarella cheese and then top with shrimp. They are in a sauce of. Marinara and alfredo blended together. Heaven! Noodles then more cheese and sauce then more shrimp covered in Sauce and topped off by cheese. I am drooling now. But I will take my leftover home to reheat to save room for the best bread pudding out side of Cajun Country. He also makes a 4 layer Italian creme cake!! It is a hard choice. They have a wonderful spiced tea. Prices are average. You can buy bags of toasted bread and jars of sauce. Be hungry or like leftovers, or bring a...
