This was our first time to try Casa Jimador. There was no wait, to be seated. We visited the restaurant on Sunday, after morning services. The inside was attractive. The chips were warm & excellent and the salsa was very good. The water came slowly, then we ordered queso, and it came slowly, too. The menus are HUGE, heavy & unweildly, plus they did not seem easy to clean or sanitize, with so many gigantic, heavy, pages. I think disposable paper or QR code menus are the proper way to go, with health and safety concerns, these days. Our waiter's face mask drooped down below his nose & mouth, so it was just there for show, not risk mitigation, or public safety. They have lunch specials, but they don't honor them on Sundays. We had a total of six people, and ordered six meals. Although the waiter wrote down the order, he seemed confused & unfamiliar with the items & terms. He came back twice, to ask additional questions, concerning our meal orders. We waited 38 minutes for our lunch to arrive. Four of the six plates had mistakes made on them! The 'cut all the cheeses' plate had both cheese sauce & sprinkled cheese, which had melted, and the crispy taco was served as a soft taco. The cheese quesadilla, rice & beans order came out as a greasy, soggy taco meat quesadilla with French fries. The chili poblano & taco plate, lady asked to add steak inside the Poblano pepper, came out with steak used in the taco, which wasn't what she wanted. The sauce used on the pepper, instead of a tasty cheese sauce, was an unappetizing looking, orangish, poor-tasting sauce, that we couldn't figure out if it was a mish-mash of geasy chili & enchilada & cheese sauces, or what, exactly. Unfortunately, it also showed up on another entree, poured liberally over a burrito, which made it inedible. The plate with that 'burrito' also had Mexican rice & half a chicken quesadilla, however the quesadilla's bottom was soaked with somewhat greasy liquid, likely from the shredded chicken & melted cheese inerds, maybe it needed to be drained, first? Mexican rice came on 3 of the plates, but none of our Mexican rice-lovers said that it was good. Oh, one man said to use chili instead of queso on his enchilada, but if I hadn't heard him order that I never would have know or guessed that what I saw was 'chili'. It looked like maybe ranchera mixed with meat grease & a white sauce.. but we certainly wouldn't have called it chili. My plate was the least problematic, it looked attractive & the only issue was that I ordered steak as the protein selection, for the Burrito Loco entrée, (it was only the cooked meat inside), wrapped in a flour tortilla, covered in a sauce. Extremely plain item, definitely NOT 'Loco'. The meat didn't have any flavor or seasonsing and it didn't have a texture that made it a good choice for a burrito, either. There was plenty of that meat filling, so I tried to share it with the folks at the table, who were the most challenged by their 'lunch', but after they tasted a piece of the 'steak', they said, "Thanks, but no thanks." The corrections we asked the waiter to make, he apparently forgot about, as he was very busy waiting on other groups. Finally, we caught his attention again, & reminded him of having asked for a couple small corrections, due to mistakes that either he made, or was a kitchen error. He said, 'Yes', and ran off. He came back quickly, set down two things & bolted. We all sat and talked a long time, not really eating. Later he brought over to go boxes, since our plates had a lot of food sitting on them. He asked about how to split up the ticket, we said one check, then he asked again, so we said "ONE check!" again. He left the ticket, then disappeared. We had to have a bus boy go find him. We pointed the multiple overcharges, he came back with not having righted the error; he subtracted $3, & added a $5.99 charge. Tried to explain to him he increased the total ticket cost, & he pointed at the $3 subtraction. You know sometimes fasting seems the way of...
Read moreFirst and LAST TIME!! HORRIBLE!! Before I ordered I asked our server , " would everything be on the side except my shrimp" (I ordered a shrimp chimichanga). He told me "Yes" After taking one BITE...My order was not the way I wanted it.It was the total opposite..full of everything I wanted on the side. I told the server that everything was supposed to be on the side. I asked the server if I could get another one or I could just change it & just get two soft tacos instead. He went & got the manager. I explain to the manager what was wrong & why I wanted something else. He personally brought the order back to me .When my friends and I were done eating we ask for tickets. I see that they have the order that was wrong on my ticket instead of the two tacos. I explain to the server that I was being charged for something that i did not eat..He cuts me off & says ,"oh my manager told me to charge you for it ..anyway. I asked for him to get the manager. I explain to him that I was charged for something I didn't eat. He say's there were no shrimps left in your chimichanga. I told him I only took one bite and had eaten one shrimp. He then said , " we put the same amount of shrimp in all of them". I then say, " are you telling me that one shrimp goes inside a shrimp chimichanga?!. He then says, " I'm not going to give you anything free". I told him sir," I dont want anything free"! I just want to pay for what I ate & NOT what I did not eat". By this time he isn't hearing anything I'm saying. My friends try to explain the same thing I just told him... he is still being rude and insists that I want something free. Which was a insult! My friends and I are very successful women in our community! We were celebrating a very dear friend to us that was visiting for the holidays from Dallas. ...which happens to love Mexican food. I told him I would pay for what I had eaten "only". He then told me that the police would be waiting for me to walk out!..This was BEYOND me! By this time all my friends are upset and taken back by his rudeness! He walks away. The waiter comes back. I give him my ticket because by this time I just want out of this place. We get outside and I realize I left my food on the table I had to go. I turn back around and walk up hearing our server and another server talking about us. That sealed the deal for me. I will...
Read moreFirst of all, let me say the service was excellent. Both the greeter, and our wait-person could not have been more helpful. Our salsa was renewed very promptly and generally, the service was excellent. But, the food was not good. I only wanted a light meal, so I ordered the chicken soup, and my wife ordered the vegetarian soup. Both were far too salty. It is well known that cooks lose their sensitivity to salt and this was a perfect example. Salt does not equal flavour! Also, being a very good cook myself, I know that this chicken soup was not made with chicken stock - in fact, it was exactly the same stock as the vegetarian soup. It would be unfair of me to rate the food that our table partners had because I did not taste any of it. However, as we left, they too were not well pleased with their meal. The ambience was better than many similar Mexican restaurants, but did suffer, as all of them seem to do, from very poor acoustics, resulting in the common vicious circle of everyone having to talk louder and louder to be heard. Pity, that problem at least is easily rectified, the food , not so easily. Better call in Gordon Ramsey! I doubt I...
