This place has been a must stop after discovery about three years ago. Hands down, the best latte from I-20 to the Gulf of Mexico. I raised my kids in Shreveport / Bossier. After 23 years in the region, I relocated to South Louisiana. Regular visits to Dallas and Longview made Rhino Coffee a fairly convenient stop for refreshments for these long trips. January 2, 2021 was such an occasion on a return trip home. I detoured to the Uptown location around 1:00 PM. Upon arrival, I saw the "new" curbside spots and opted to park across the street and phone in my order. There were 2 adults, two small children, a Chihuahua, and a Great Pyrenees in my truck making "curbside" the obvious choice. I called at 1:10 PM and a recorded message instructed to order online. Well, alrighty then. I hung up from the wasted phone call, ordered online, and after navigating through the process, paid at 1:17 PM. The order was confirmed for pick-up at 1:32 PM. I proceeded back to the Curbside Parking area in spot #4. At 1:20 PM I texted confirmation of my arrival and received an immediate response of "Be out soon!"
We sat and watched several walk-in customers come and go. A curbside customer came, received their order, and went. At 1:37, I texted again. No response. Another group I saw arriving exited the building. Frustrated, at 1:42 PM, I donned a mask and went into the store. I waited for the customer at the counter to finish their business. The young man behind the counter who had delivered the other curbside order said something to a young lady behind the counter concerning "curbside" and I interrupted "you can just hand it to me." The young lady asked " Oh, are you Michael" and grabbed two lattes on the table behind her. I asked rhetorically if they were just letting them cool off and wished them a happy new year.
The lattes were in fact cooled off. I did not demand replacements because I did not want to waste another half hour for incompetent service with 5 hours of road trip ahead of me. The lesson to be learned here is that one bad experience, much like this one, can lose a customer with years of loyalty. Rhino Coffee will not miss my business. Should indifferent service continue, Rhino Coffee will certainly miss the business of repeat...
Read moreI stopped at Rhino Coffee located at 721 Southfield on Saturday March 15, 2025 at 11:05 am after a client meeting. Upon entering the building one person was ahead of me ordering 2 drinks/food and I was next to be waited on. The staff member waited on me and was very hospitable as I ordered a small cappuccino with 2 extra shots of espresso. The total price was approximately $7.50 After stepping back to wait +/- 20 customers came in for a variety of mobile orders and placing their orders at the counter. One young man was working at the espresso machine preparing orders so I observed that my wait time might have been longer than anticipated when choosing this coffee shop for a drink.
As I waited multiple individuals who ordered what appeared to be similar drinks after me entering the building were served before me. I approached the counter to inquire if they forgot about me and the staff member pointed to a cup which was 3 down from what was being made. I was visibly disappointed that my wait was taking longer than necessary I chose to step back to wait again.
Five additional minutes go by as I stood back in plain site of the employees and another customer was served who came in after I did. This led me to telling the employee to just cancel my drink and I walked out. This was at 11:28am
I am extremely disappointed with my experience. While I wasn't expecting to have extremely fast service I definitely wasn't expecting a 20+ minute wait to not leave with a small coffee. I would be remiss if I didn't share my experience from this morning.
So, if you are searching for prompt service for rudimentary drinks I would not recommend Rhino Coffee...
Read moreFront counter service was unfriendly and unwelcoming. No hello, welcome to rhino. No how can I help you or what can I get for you. Clerk was counting money instead of paying attention to my family and I who had never been there before. After a very lengthy and unassisted search for an order to match with what we wanted, we ordered and zero confirmation that all of it was even heard. Manager made two coffees and one double espresso while clerk finished counting tip jar money before entering in our order. The espresso is listed as a small or large. NOT AS ONE OR TWO SHOTS. We assumed this was because coffee would come with the espresso. It didn't. Instead of guidance and suggestions, we received two Eastside coffees with gritty mocha and cinnamon on the bottom and a paper cup barely filled with two shots of espresso. Who would want a small coffee cup with just espresso? -marked +2 because it was two shots and no coffee. No one said anything. Clerk handed us a table number and checked us out. No thank you, no direction as to where and how the food would get to us, just on to the next one. THEN OUR TICKET WAS WRONG. We were over rang for something that wasn't what we even ordered. Upon asking the manager for a refund, zero apologies for their mistake. The clerk who made the incorrect charge was right there and merely responded with "Oh." and continued helping other customers- to whom there was STILL no hello or welcome or any customer service at all. We will ABSOLUTELY NOT be returning or referring anyone to this snobbish, unfriendly coffee house. If they could even find it when the only sign is...
