Country Tavern Barbecue — Restaurant in Shreveport

Was served cold ribs at 11:30 then the server's solution was to microwave them. My lunch date and I both ordered the large ribs each for $20 and they both were cold. And for a large order u get 6-8 ribs (they claim to weigh them). When our plates came out my ribs looked like Applebee's baby back ribs and my lunch date's looked like they should have. I mentioned to our server and she says that's how it is sometimes but we both have 6 ribs (the minimum from their standards) and my lunch date's were obviously quite bigger and thicker so how did they weigh the same. Needless to say the server offered my lunch date a cobbler (on the house) after I wouldn't let her "microwave" my ribs (for something that should have been hot to begin with). They were not busy and we were the 2nd ones in there. Now remind u going into the place I passed the flaming hot pit which my ribs never partook in 😉. To add injury to insult when we asked for our ticket the server brings out piping hot hand towels, this is like a slap in the face. First of all my hands were not dirty bc I didn't eat COLD ribs, (my whole plate was there untouched once I saw they were cold) and 2nd of all U CAN BRING ME A HOT TOWEL FOR MY HANDS BUT U CAN'T BRING ME HOT FOOD!?! Come on. I went here bc someone recommended the place to me, sad I'll never know Country Tavern's full potential. And let me get this straight, I wasn't wanting a free meal or anything like that... I JUST WANTED WHAT I PAID FOR AND WHAT THEY ADVERTISE THEY HAVE!! If you want some bbq in the Shreveport area, FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE! We tried this place because of the good reviews and had seen it featured on one of the food channel shows. I don't know where the people who gave it 4 and 5 stars ate but it wasn't here. Had a party of 5 and one person ordered a steak and everyone else ordered some form of bbq. The guy who ordered the steak had the only hot meal on the table. The food had a nice flavor but the temperature was like they took it out of the refrigerator and set it on the counter while the other customer's steak was cooking. My girlfriend had the chopped brisket sandwich that turned out to be ½ fat and the bun was burned black and even her french fries were cold, not warm but actually cold to the touch. The beans tasted like Bush's baked beans with extra brown sugar thrown in and at tepid were the warmest thing on the plate. We were all extremely unsatisfied and when we mentioned it to waitress she got us comped desserts. Had the blackberry cobbler which people had raved about and it had a nice taste and was warm (not hot) but you could tell it was a premade frozen cobbler from a restaurant supply that had been heated. The guy that ordered the steak didn't come away completely unscathed, after he finished his iced tea he picked up the glass and there was a fly down in the middle of the ice. It had to have been in the ice machine because it wasn't floating on top but buried down in the ice. The best part of the night was the waitress. The food was of the most excellent nature The ribs were absolutely wonderfully well cooked the seasoning absolutely perfect they had an amazing taste texture all by themselves but when you add the barbecue sauce it produces an amazing completely different mesquite-like taste to the ribs. The au gratin potatoes were absolutely fantastic as well not to mention that even something so basic is the onion rings were perfectly cooked and complimented to meal well The potato salad was absolutely fantastic. The wait staff also was extremely professional very courteous and a pleasure to sit there and talk to as well. I cannot stress how amazingly good the food is. The turkey and the brisket were absolutely wonderful The turkey was completely tender, moist and it had a wonderful smoked flavor to it. unfortunately all I can give this review is five stars if I could give it more I would double it.
