I give credit to the workers who served, but the food and the system was just off. We had heard that the Shane's on Mansfield was better than the one on Youree becuase the Youree one kept serving cold food. So, we thought we'd give the other a try. Turns out we were disappointed over the money wasted. Our attitudes over the table were just kind of dry.
My mother ordered a shrimp basket and I ordered a combination plate. I had my mouth set on lemonade, in which the lady said they were out of it. This also occurred at the other Shane's, and I'm like...ugh!! I got a sweet tea, which was okay, but after a refill, it felt like it was watered down. My mother said the same thing about her coke.
The time it took to get our food was excellent, but what we ate did not meet our expectations. For one, the shrimp basket was barely a shrimp basket. It was mostly made up of fries. The puny, pathetic pieces of shrimp my mother had were like these miniature pieces of popcorn shrimp. For a basket costing that much, the shrimp should have either been plenty or much bigger than that, not have 80% of it be just fries that also had no special taste. My combination plate was pretty much the same. My catfish had no taste, and this was almost $20 bucks. One other thing wrong was that my mother complained about the shrimp being a little too cold, then again, she always likes her stuff steaming hot.
After my mother got her receipt, she was really regretting letting go that $34 over these baskets that were nothing special. Together both should have been at least $16. But now we know, and I highly doubt we'll go back to Shane's anywhere.
One other thing that really frustrated me was the fact that they did not even allow my mother to try just ONE stuffed shrimp to see if she'd like it. We were told we had to buy the entire item rather than just charging her for one. I mean if you want to make a sell and see if the customer will actually like it, try to compromise, becuase if they do like it, it's mostly likely that they'll come back. At first, I thought it was ridiculous, but then I thought, Okay, they must have everything prepackaged.
But other than that, waste of money, bland taste, ridiculous prices, meh. You can go to little mom and pop seafood stores and they'll give you better. We just gave the rest...
Read moreFirst, I would like to address how the owner nor any management addresses the reviews or concerns of their paying customers on here. I've been wanting to eat here for quite a few years and figured I would try their burger and BBQ chopped beef sandwich because if they mess up something that simple then it's definitely not worth trying anything else on the menu. There is nothing CAJUN about their Cajun burger. The burger had no spice, nor anything worthy of being called Cajun . I've been a chief cook on a dredge boat in south Louisiana for 20 years and the cooks here at Shane's or whoever came up with this burger would have been ran out of my kitchen long ago. It was a luke warm patty with cheese slapped between a bun with what I would call a salad on the side because all the dressings was stuffed in the corner for you to do it yourself. The fries was something leftover under a heat lamp for God knows how long. The BBQ sandwich is not impressive at all either. The meat and fries was all luke warm as well and just as standard flavor as anyone could do themselves. This place really needs to do better. I've been in the food industry for all my life and I've never brought anything home that cost $30 that i had to throw away after just a taste. It looked like a bunch of teens back there preparing over priced food that I'm convinced has no concern or pride in their job. I would never recommend this place to anyone, especially for something as simple that I ordered, save your money from here and hit Burger King or some other burger joint. There you get a fully dressed burger that is more freshly prepared than this, not mention the tons of condiment packets you receive to make the burger have a chance of some flavor . This place was a total let down on food for...
Read moreWent in at around 6pm on sunday. 3 tables were seated. We waited at the door to be seated for at least 4-5 minutes. We get sat down, and didn't see a waitress for another 5 minutes. She dropped off menus and left. Came back 10 minutes later to get our order. Brought our drinks around another 5 minutes later. Food came out 15-20 minutes after that. She didn't bring silverware or the bbq sauce... said she'd be back with it. We waited... and waited.... and waited... I got up and walked to the drink area, where I was ignored for about 2 minutes. At which point she looked at me and I reminded her we needed silverware and bbq sauce. She acknowledged me and said she'd get them. I walk back over and sit down because she finished getting the soda's she was getting instead of our stuff and then walked into the back... My wife and I had time to talk about how crappy the service was and how now our "bucket of beef", which was served piled on a plate, was now literally cold to the touch... We were hungry and ate a sandwich anyway but decided it was time to take it home and reheat it so it'd taste better... Normally, I'd have sent it back, but seeing as how our waitress never even checked on us once, I had to get up and track her down to ask for goto boxes.... another 5 minutes pass before she brings them out, has to go back for another because we barely ate anything and needed a THIRD box... then plops down a check for $46.95! We get up to pay, I walk over to the register where I was told I'd have to wait for my waitress to check me out!! What?!?! No. I will not be back and I will be telling anyone who asks how bad this experience was... Charge me $50 for cold food and...
