Strawn's Eat Shop — Restaurant in Shreveport

We eat at Shawn's Eat Shop everytime we come through Shreveport, which is pretty often. We discovered this gem of a restaurant back in 2013 and have been designing our trips to visit family and the beaches of Florida to always stop in Shreveport so that we can eat at Strawn's.. This is the second time we have left Strawn's disappointed in our meal. The waitress was new and of course, she made a couple of errors, but that is okay, she had a long time employee training her and that was fine. My wife had the 2 egg breakfast with toast, which the first time they brought it, it looked like someone had taken a shot glass and pushed down through the 5 pieces and then dumped a bunch of butter in the center, and it hadn't been toasted. She asked for another order, which she never received. My granddaughter ordered biscuits and gravy, which she had to cut with a knife because the bottom of the biscuits were so hard. I had the french toast with bacon. When cooking French toast you cannot cook it fast or the inside is mushy and not cooked. Mine was definitely mushy. We normally get some pie, because, STRAWN'S PIE, but not this time. We were never asked how our food was, when I paid, the cashier barely said hello, and she never asked how our meal was, so I didn't say anything. Strawn's has been such a good restaurant, but I believe they are resting on their laurels and are just calling it in now. We almost went to Orlandeauxs for breakfast this morning. Next time we come through Shreveport, for the first time in 9 years, we will not be coming...

First time visiting Bossier City and stumbled upon this place in a Google search.... and are we glad we did!!! It was very busy for a Saturday morning and we parked in the back and took stairs up to the back entrance. We were greeted immediately and told to pick a table. Menus are already on the tables so we started looking at our options right away. 15 seconds in our waitress April appeared and took our drink orders.. 2 coffees 2 waters. I'd already decided I wanted to try too many things on the menu. Hubby and I settled on the hungry man breakfast each. I got scrambled eggs with sausage and he got over medium fried eggs with ham. Our waitress even magically knew I love peanut butter on my pancakes (that came with the meal...2 pancakes or 1 waffle, which is what hubby got) and brought me some! The breakfast also came with potatoes and choice of grits, toast, or biscuits. We both chose biscuits and a side of gravy. Y'all those biscuits were bomb.. fluffy, with just a hint of sweetness. The pancakes smelled divine and you could taste the vanilla in them. The potatoes were not your typical hashbrown, more like a home fries than hashbrowns but so good. Everything was amazing and there was sooo much of it! We grabbed a peice of the strawberry pie and the banana cream pie to go... also crazy good. Kudos to our waitress April.. I don't think she slowed down for a second, never stopped smiling and we even got to chat a minute. Hands down one of the best breakfasts I've had...

My husband has lived here four years and I swore that I brought him here. Somehow, I failed. We came for Sunday brunch and met up with some friends. When we got there the place way SLAMMED! A super nice waitress called us over and asked how many of us there was. We said 4 and she motioned for us to stand somewhere while she cleaned our table. We were standing for MAYBE 3 minutes when the most rude server I have ever been around said “you are in the worst possible spot to be standing”. I replied, “I see that, is there somewhere that is better while she is cleaning our table? She told us to stand here”. She responded with, “I don’t care where you stand but you can stand here. I need to get there and you are in my way.” Then proceeded to push herself in between my husband and used her hands to do the “shoo shoo” motion. It was not my place to say anything back because she was obviously busy but so were the other waitresses who were absolutely incredible and sweet. Being busy is not an excuse for being rude. Our waitress was so sweet and did her job perfectly. I hated that my husbands very first experience...
