Unfortunately 1 star is too much for this place.
I have been here a year or two ago and have enjoyed my experience. I have even talked this place up to other people. I was excited to come back with my family this Easter weekend.
We ordered rail car nachos and calamari. Nachos came out with cold hard cheese on top and beef was dry. Calamari tasted and had the texture of fish sticks. We didn't make a fuss about it. Sometimes things are off.
Then our entrees came. I personally ordered a ribeye with mashed potatoes and green beans. The steak almost had a microwaved taste and texture to it. It went from well-done to rare almost immediately and did not taste fresh. Way overpriced at $39. The red skinned mashed potatoes looked and tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. They had a dull, yellow coloring to them.
One of our group ordered the sirloin. I knew something wasn't right because the menu described the sirloin as "intensely marbled" which doesn't make any sense because a sirloin is known as being one of the least marbled cuts of meat. The sirloin came out and was largely gristle and completely rare. He couldn't cut through it with a knife. He mentioned it to the waitress and she took it back and said "You never really know what you are getting with a steak". Not knocking the waitress because she was incredibly nice, but a restaurant should know exactly what kind of meat they are serving their customers.
The real kicker is my brother found a FINGERNAIL in his green beans. He pulled it out of his mouth and showed us in complete disgust. It was clearly a fingernail. He told the waitress and she looked appalled as well. She took the fingernail to the kitchen and said the owner, Kent, would come talked to us.
The owner came out and asked us what the problem was. We told him the sirloin was all gristle and my brother found a fingernail in his green beans. He said he would comp us on the sirloin, but gaslighted us on the green beans and said it wasn't a fingernail. He said he took a look at it in the back, rubbed it in his hands, and it crumpled up and therefore couldn't be a fingernail. I guess that was the end of the conversation for him. No explanation what ingredient it was or why it felt and looked like fingernail one moment and fell apart instantaneously the next.
We asked for the bill as we had heard enough. We were only comped for the undercooked tendon of a sirloin. Paid full price for the green beans and fingernail and everything else despite the fact all of us had lost our appetite. And they had the nerve to add gratuity to the bill for us. I guess they consider that 10/10 service.
Sad to see a once nice place fall so far. I will never be back.
Save yourself the headache and take your money to a legitimate restaurant.
I posted the review on 4/3. The same night we went to The Bridge in Sidney, OH. Our reservations was at 7pm. Google Reviews shows how long since the last update to the post (initial post, edits, response from restaurant, etc).
After we complained about the fingernail, the waitress said the owner would come out and talk to us. Based off the menu the restaurant has 2 owners. One of the names was a man's name (Kent) and the other was a woman's. Since a man came to talk to our table, we had the understanding that we were speaking to Kent. The man looked to be in his late 40's or 50's, had a diamond stud ear ring, and was wearing a snug sports coat. I don't know who that was, but we were all led to believe it was you.
The food was bad, but the main problem was how we were treated. Sometimes restaurants miss the mark (although they shouldn't at $39 a plate), but we told your staff about it and gave you guys a chance to make it right. Instead we were essentially told that we were wrong and left sitting there with plates full of food we didn't want after my brother pulled somebody else's fingernail out of his mouth after taking a bite of the...
Read moreI feel the bridge was overpriced for the beef stroganoff there was a little bit of beef I didn't even find a mushroom says as garlic mashed potatoes didn't see The mashed potatoes Said on the menu it was under the noodles I didn't find it or taste it . I looked My mom couldn't find hers or taste it either That's a shame got half a bag of noodles with a half a cup of beef broth minced had to have been minced because couldn't see it or taste it the mushroom also the beef tasted as if it was canned and it was tiny little pieces it was $18 for just that meal the salad was phenomenal The bread was great You only got 4 inches for three people that were dining 4 inches didn't go very far had to ask for another loaf you would have thought for three people we would have each got a 4-inch loaf with our meal we did not receive one for each person two of us got the beef stroganoff very very upset it was cold there was no one in the dining area but us $13 for three pieces of deep fried fish and waffle fries I think there was six The bill came We drank water my mom was her birthday she had one cup of coffee the dessert was great she had the carrot cake when we got the bill there was nothing itemized for $75 We spent $75 plus an tip for something I could have made at home and we were very dissatisfied overpriced the food was not good I can go to outback steakhouse or Texas Roadhouse and got a way better meal and had steak that was delicious with a baked potato and a salad for less than $60 for three people I've already done it only reason why I attended the bridge it was in my mom's 86th birthday and I asked her where she wanted to go she has never ate there and that's where we went when we went to Texas Roadhouse I had received mushrooms and onions on my steak at Texas Roadhouse trust me you can see it and taste it. I was so dissatisfied for almost The money we spent I do not recommend the bridge The bridge needs some serious work I'm sure if you order something else it may have been good but I'm speaking from our meal an hour experience I'm very disappointed We didn't speak with the manager because there was nobody in the restaurant but us a waitress and two guys that we had seen and we didn't want to disrupt. My mom's meal her carrot cake was great she loved the carrot cake as for what we paid for the coffee the carrot cake I have no idea it was never itemized on our bill just the total 75.08 pls tip needless to say I brought mine home and my mom brought hers home as for the fish he ate it all and enjoyed it. Poor management and the waitress was poor for not insisting when she knew she didn't see no steam coming up from them stroganoff that the cook make it hot and I don't know why the waitress chose to not give us each a small portion of bread so the bridge needs serious management changes. I know now why their wasn't...
Read moreIt's been quite a while since I've visited the Bridge. I was happy to find there has been some re-organizing of the floor space that separated the entrance from the, previously totally open, front dining area. Very nicely decorated. Greeted politely by the young man who let the waiter know immediately that we arrived.
Ordered the fried calamari. Easily the BEST I've ever had. So much so I ordered another. My friend ordered pecan crusted chicken VERY moist and flavorful. Although, I must admit that the size was very small. Sweet potato soufflé was very tasty with a bit of crunch from the sugar and finely ground nuts and just the right amount of spice from cinnamon and nutmeg.
I ordered the Meat loaf. This had all the possibilities of a very good dish. Unfortunately is was horribly over salted! And I'm the type of guy that loves to lick salt from my finger. It was nice and thick and very easy on the tongue. Not so dense as many loafs can be. Unfortunately it really was too bad to eat so i just asked for a box. The smashed potatoes were, thankfully, delicious and not over salted. The green beans were very nice and smoky due to the added bacon. I did leave a comment about the overly salty meat loaf on their comment card.
Salads were well chilled and the blue cheese dressing was very good. Seems high quality.
$79 with tip. I'll be back simply due to the ambiance to try again
Waiter was pleasant but really didn't tend to us very well. Never asked how things were, refilled our water, or asked about deserts. However, he was pleasant and professional. 4 stars if service was just a tad bit better and the meatloaf was not overly salted for this salt addict.
I've not seen this myself, but my friend had an occasion to be in the upstairs banquet room He said is was HUGE and they put out a really nice, upscale, buffet for...
