I've been here 2.5 years and avoided this restaurant because of the negative reviews. Today I decided to give them a fair chance and I took the family out for lunch. The good: The place is clean. It's dimly lit and has a nice relaxing atmosphere. That's where it ended. We ordered two California Rolls for the kids, Gyoza, Yakitori, Miso Soup, and a Spicy Tuna Roll. The server was very robotic and lacked interpersonal skill. When she first returned to the table, she brought out the Gyoza, Miso Soup, and Yakitori and left. She didn't say, "I'll be back with the maki rolls." So, we assumed she would come back. She also pointed out that they're all out of the classic spoons for our Miso, so she gave us some cheap, plastic spoons. I'm thinking, "Where did they go? This is lunch and you're not busy...were the dishes from last night not washed?" The biggest complaint I have is false advertising. The Yakitori was absolutely NOT grilled. It was deep fried and bland. Pretty disappointed in that. Next out came the California Rolls. I'm wondering where my spicy tuna is. Not once did our server say, "Enjoy, is there anything else I can bring you?" She also never came back throughout our entire visit. I continued to wonder where my spicy tuna was. Again...very inattentive service. She never refilled any drinks and we continued to sit there. Eventually she stopped by and gave us the check. Of course, spicy tuna was on the bill. I pointed out that it never came, and her immediate reaction was that it did as she looked across our table as if I was lying. I had her take it off because we had been waiting for so long as it was. This could have been avoided if she communicated or stopped by even once to check on us and I could have asked, "How's it coming on that spicy tuna?" To summarize, we were given plastic spoons for our soup, the service was inattentive and slow, the Yakitori is advertised as grilled when it's fried, and part of my order was missing. Sadly, we won't be back. The only thing I can assume is that the owner or manager themselves do not have experience in food service. These are all basic things that could easily be fixed by someone with elementary...
Read moreFood was tasty, service was bad. Friday evening 6:45pm. Waited 30 minutes for a seat which was understandable. Ordered rather quickly: edamame, squid salad, lobster tail roll, caterpillar roll. An hour and 20 minutes later the Caterpillar roll arrives and squid salad at the same time. Takes another 20 minutes to get the attention of a different waiter to get some plates, soy sauce, and soy sauce dishes. By this time my companion has finished her meal. 15 minutes later, the waiter says "I am still pushing them for the edamame" here is your check. I tell her not to bother. Check has the lobster tail roll still on it, and it takes another server to make the correction. Just very sloppy and disappointing service. The hostess at the front was great.
UPDATE: Tried a Monday 6:30pm this time. This time the waiter walks away before we get all the drinks ordered. When she comes back I order a Black bottle of sake and get a very hot (too hot to drink) bottle of the house swill. She delivers the sushi by shoving it on the table and leaving so it takes us a minute to arrange it amid the pile of empty plates that stayed on the table till after we left. We avoid cream cheese on sushi and only order those without it. Sure enough the chef puts a huge chunck in the Sierra Vista roll... So: In truth the food tastes good. The service is very sub par. I won't come back and spend my money here again. (I dropped it from 3 stars to 2 stars) They can do better.
UPDATE: Went with the family for hibachi and waitress again kept leaving in the middle of us trying to order drinks. The other couple at the table didn't even get their order in. While the waitress was talking very rudely about us with her co-worker, she didn't even have the courtesy to step out of earshot of us. We are not obnoxious people or "Karen's", and we bring our manners when we go out. The place is still dirty and the service is just toxic and demeaning. Again the food was good and the hibachi chef was top rate and fun. (Removed another star 2 to 1. You need...
Read moreIf I could give this restaurant zero stars I would! Ten of us had dinner at the hibachi grill tonight at about 6:oo. We had a party at this same place last year and had an excellent time. This year, however, things went terribly wrong. Our cook (I'm sorry....I just cannot honor this man with the title chef) wasn't nearly as much fun as last years chef, but that wasn't a deal breaker. He did, however, misjudge how much food he needed to cook for all 10 people. My husband ordered filet and scallops. His filet was served last and the cook commented he was short on meat. For just under $30 my husband received half cup of beef and 5 scallops. We had also ordered extra veggies and no rice as did another member of our party. Miscommunication between server and cook resulted in him reading no veggies rather than extra veggies. He said he couldn't cook anymore because he turned off the grill and we could wait for the kitchen to make us vegetable. Our sad little plates held barely enough food to be considered an appetizer. After we had eaten all our meat the veggies finally arrived from the kitchen but by that time I wasn't interested in vegetable desert. When our bill arrived, $72 I was upset. I spoke to the owner/manager. A man and woman glared at me and told me I had gotten my veggies. I explained to them there was not enough meat and no veggies until our dinner was over. The woman muttered under her breath and told the cashier to take off 10%. I told her that was an insult and to forget it. I have worked in the food industry over 40 years and have never been treated so poorly by a restaurant manager. No apology, no agreement that the meal was insufficient in quantity and problems with the cook and waitstaff are not my problem. I will never go back to this rip off establishment again. If you want to be over charged, underfed, and treated rudely, this is the...
