Main takeaway: Food is great, service is terrible, and the price does not reflect the experience.

Long Story: We have dined in at Sam's twice and ordered takeout three times.

First dine in experience, just my husband and me, was great. The waitress, who I am assuming is also the manager because she has that "I'm in charge" air (she's also been there every time we've come in), was quick, attentive, friendly, etc. Basically exactly what you want in a server, and she gave us a free dessert since it was our first time dining with them.

After this we ordered to go three separate occasions. We have five kids, and Sam's offers a variety of family meal options that are affordable and filling. The meal plan we got all three times is for 25 pieces of a meat, two large sides, four pieces of fried bread, and sauces if you ask (if you ask which we aways do). All three times it has been missing something or something has been wrong. First time there was no bread or sauces, second they only gave us two pieces of bread and again forgot the sauces, third time they gave us the wrong sides.

When we mentioned the errors after the first and second to go orders apologies were made but nothing was really done to ensure it didn't happen again.

Every time I walked in to pick up an order, whether it was busy or slow, people from tables were walking up asking the staff for things they should have already been given.

Today we took all our kids in to dine in, hoping that this time, at least, our food would be correct.

Not only did they get our order wrong, again, but service was abysmal. I had to bring my husband's cup up to the cashier to get a refill, the waitresses loitered about, they left us waiting for sauces and plates for 15 minutes only to tell us there weren't any plates left, and tables around us were experiencing similar things from their waitresses. It was ridiculous, and this terrible service continued even after the restaurant became slow.

A friendly staff can only get you so far when they don't do their jobs in a rather expensive establishment.

It's too bad, because the...

You should not dine in here, the wait is very long and everything in the building is sticky. Table, floor, chairs all sticky. I feel they don't have a big enough fryer for a place with almost an entirely fried menu. The wait wouldn't be so bad except that one person in the party got grilled fish and it was delivered at least 15 minutes before anything else so by the time the rest of the food got delivered the grilled food was cold. The taste of the food itself is alright, not worth the $85 for sure but it wasn't awful. The grilled items had the best flavor to them. Green beans are directly from a can with a big scoop of garlic on top. Fries, hushpuppies, and crab cakes were overcooked while shrimp was under cooked on the batter but the shrimp itself was good. (Oil wasn't hot enough) If I had ordered it to go I probably would have given it a better rating, it's a 30 minute drive after all so it would be impossible for it to take forever to be...

My wife and I went here for the first time on 11/25 and the food was amazing especially the gumbo but we went back on or about the 14th of December and we ordered the same exact thing but that time the gumbo was terrible we could tell when we looked at it the rue was way lighter than the last time but we tried it and it was awful so it wasn’t good enough to even eat and the shrimp po boy was the same very poorly put together not nearly the quality we expected from what we had a few weeks prior im not sure if the difference was maybe because it was the weekend or a different cook but i hope they get consistency because it was out of this world good the first time but after being so disappointing the second we are afraid to go back at just shy of $40 it’s a gamble plus sitting at the pickup window for over half an hour even though we called the second order in ahead of time it’s a big risk...

Fish was really skinny, like a filet cut in half or thirds lengthwise. The hushpuppies were hockey pucks and had a bit of jalapeño heat to them. The chicken was skinny also, like a breast cut in thirds lengthwise. The cocktail sauce was spicy. French fries had a seasoning and were ok. It was more expensive than what we've spent at Red Lobster or Catfish hole. Now the good: the sweet tea was good. The shrimp was HUGE and amazing. There were no veins in the shrimp and no silver on the catfish. The catfish didn't taste like mud. The staff was nice and checked on us twice, clean environment, plenty of parking. We probably won't return for the seafood, but we may try their burger or Philly.

This was our first time dining here and it was a great experience. Chasity was our server and took wonderful care of us.. The portions are VERY generous. We sampled the fried green tomatoes, fried chicken livers, chicken strips, catfish, fries, fried rolls, and side salad. Everything was delicious but the catfish really stood out. The homemade breading is excellent and it was cooked to perfection. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Some of the best I have had. When we return, the catfish will be my go-to choice.

I have to say I was very impressed. I am a quadriplegic and had trouble getting through one of the doors. And thought I was going to have to leave but they came out and helped me get through another door and were very sweet the entire visit, not to mention the food is fabulous. I had the jumbo shrimp with hush puppies and a salad and it was delicious. My husband had the chicken strips with shrimp and it was just as good and their dessert was wonderful. We definitely will be going back!!!
