Zene's Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Silver Spring

I had in the past used Zene occasionally -- for my injera needs and when other stores I frequent are closed or run out of injera, all because I was not aware of the quality on the restaurant side. Now, my biggest regret is failing to discover the great food Zene has had to offer. My family and I went to Zene yesterday by accident since the restaurants we normally go to were about to close (Sunday after 9 pm). We had a sudden urge for some injera-based food after all day out in DC. I am not sure if it was the restaurant owner, but almost certain she is, greeted us well upon arrival and offered us a seat and made us feel at home. The waitress almost instantly showed up with the menu, and carefully listened and catered to our needs. One of the food we ordered was "Kitfo". I told this waitress to get our little sister the best kitfo available since it was her graduation week (waitress mentioned there was Zene special "Kitfo") . This turned out to be the biggest surprise of our sister's graduation as Zene and others later came back, after dinner and we were about to leave, with a cake and candle --even better played a special song for her. Excellent experience from a place we least expected it. Along with the Kitfo, we also had GODDEN TIBIS (which is famous, for obvious reasons), and TIBIS. All the three food we ordered were cooked to perfection, and good size to fill 3 hungry beasts. Overall, our experience with the food and customer service were top of the line. Although Zene does not look a high-end restaurant aesthetically, it's by far the best food and customer service I witnessed in anything Ethiopian. I was coming from another state and i Enjoyed a lot it was so a good experience to be there. the food and the service was so amazing, we ate Goden tibs, kikle, shint tibs and kurt siga it was such delicious food we feel like we were back home Ethiopia. The coffee celebration makes as comfortable like we was celebrating epiphany at our house they get too busy on that day but our server OMG I don’t have any word for her, she knows what she works she was so humble, smiley, and professional too i thought her name is Hana if i didn’t make a mistake the skinny black skin color girl i own my business out here i wish to have an employee like her the owners are so lucky to get the employee like her. The food and the owner Deserve 5 stars but the waitress the lady with a big belly the one who was serving out door on 07/25/2021 around 6:30 pm she need to learn how to serve the customer her service and behavior un acceptable for customer service at all. when I walk in to the restaurant I meet at the door a young gentleman waiter and I order GODEN TIBS WITH local injera which is made in usa because I don't like the imported Ethiopian injera but the waitress who I complain about she bring the food with Ethiopian injera and I ask her with a highly respect to change the injera which I don't order but the way she look at me like enemy until the time I leave the restaurant. my program was to have a dinner and listen to the Ethiopian music with couple drinks but I have to change my mind to go to different bar because of the nasty customer service of waitress. my message to the owner keep eyes on the...
