Working with Mr. Fazil Hamid was really a pleasure. He was knowledgeable and no-pressure. We even asked who owned mattress firm and he said it was a private equity firm in banks – versus some awful Trump supporter like the owner of Mr. Pillow.
We said that we were only interested in testing out the Purple Brand mattresses and he did not try and steer us in any other direction (there were plenty of mattresses that were more expensive).
When it was clear that we were pleased with the number four, he pointed out that mattress firm offers a two-year interest-free payment plan and he was prepared to give us $200 off plus half off of the warrantee-required Purple Brand mattress cover protector. He also offered all of the guarantees that purple offers and in addition white glove set up in our home even during Covid and removal of our old mattress for free. He also offered that the movers would switch our current mattress with our guestroom mattress downstairs and remove the guestroom mattress which has nothing to do with the purchase we were intending to make.
He said that if we were unhappy after 21 days for any reason at all with the mattress that he would send his drivers to come and pick it up for a full and complete refund no questions asked as long as the mattress was clean without any blemish or damage.
As I said, he was a delight.
He also pointed out that if we ordered from Purple they would take several weeks to deliver and he had 12 of the queen-size number fours in his warehouse and could deliver this week. He said that many mattress firm locations were drawing on that warehouse and that if we put down even $5 he could hold the mattress for several days. This was all very kind of him and he didn’t have to do it at all when he realized that we weren’t ready to make a decision right then and there.
Our only hesitation was that we were aware that Purple Brand is also available through the American Airlines AAdvantage shopping mall which provides three EXTRA miles per dollar for the purchase which - at $3000 - amounts to a free airline ticket.
We said we would check with American Airlines and with Purple to see if there was any way at all that we could purchase the mattress through him and still get the miles.
Alas we’ve since spoken with both entities and that is not possible. So we ended up purchasing it through Macy’s that also had it in stock.
It turns out that the Macy’s discount was slightly better with their “family” coupon code that gave us 10% / $300 off - which, even with his discounted mattress cover (a savings of $80) and the Purple brand $200 off promotion, coupled with the airline miles through Macy’s - we just couldn’t Pass it up.
If we had needed to utilize the two-year interest-free option (which was an incredibly generous offer) that might have swayed us in the other direction.
I would highly recommend this particular location of mattress firm (Silver Spring MD) and dealing with Mr. Hamid - who was delightful. If mattress firm wants to capture more customers who are looking for airline miles they would be wise to join the rewards network airline mileage...
Read moreThe DTSS Mattress Firm damaged my bed when delivering my mattress, told me in writing they would pay for the damage, told me for months the check was in the mail, and one year later has paid me nothing. The managers who operate this business have been very dishonest.
In March 2023, I purchased an adjustable base and mattress from the DTSS Mattress Firm. It was delivered within a week of purchase. The delivery crew needed to remove the slats from my current bed to setup the adjustable base. In a rush, they forced the slats off and damaged them. The slats were brand new (custom made purchase that came with the Ethan Allen bed frame).
Long story short: I contacted Mattress Firm, sent pictures of the damage, and provided them with estimates for repair. They told me in April 2023 that I would receive a check in the mail in 7-10 business days. In July 2023, when I still had not received anything, I emailed the company several times to no avail. When sensing that they weren't going to be responsive, I filed a BBB complaint.
I actually received a phone call from Mattress Firm after this complaint was filed. They told me someone would drop-off the money at my house. This was very odd since a check had allegedly been sent in the mail. Unsurprisingly, no one dropped off any money. I went back to the store location, because I was not getting responses to email, and the associate (Manny) told me the same thing I had been hearing for months: the check is in the mail.

The mattress I ordered online ended up being too small for the bed frame, so I needed a box spring asap. I went on Saturday and explained to Zeeshan what I needed and he went to check inventory and found what I was looking for. I showed him the price on their website and he honored that price. I told Zeeshan my situation of needing to get it to my condo which is a 2 minute walk due to Airbnb. He informed me the price would be $99 for delivery, and he made an exception to $29.99 but the delivery driver wasn’t going to be able to deliver until the next day. I told Zeeshan I would take it down the street myself and without hesitation he offered to help me get it to the condo same day!!!
