It's a Denny's. You've been here before, you know what to expect. I'm mostly writing this review for one reason: this Denny's was hyped for months, if not literal years as going to be a 24-hour location, which Simi Valley DESPERATELY needs, for those who work at night, because just about everything else in this town shuts down by 8 pm--and I've tried at least twice to visit this location after midnight when I'm hungry and working, and it's been closed. The first time I walked at 3 am from my house over a mile away, with a heavy backpack, only to find an employee sleeping in the back and a handwritten sign on the door that said "Closed 12 am to 6 am, sorry!" This very website I'm writing this review on maintains that it's open 24 hours, and I just called at 2 am--to get a voicemail that said "this location is currently closed." Google even says that it's status as a 24 hour restaurant was "confirmed by this restaurant 3 weeks ago." Look, I'm not expecting the Ritz-Carlton here--it's a Denny's, I get it. But if you're going to advertise and maintain that you're open 24 hours, actually be open 24 hours for those of us who might want to eat something out when working late at night. Or at least have the decency not to lie to us on Google and...
Read moreDenny’s is the classic American diner experience, open 24 hours and always ready to serve a hearty meal. On a recent visit, the order of steak and eggs turned out to be exactly what you’d expect from a diner staple: filling, flavorful, and satisfying.
The steak was cooked to order, with a nice sear on the outside and tender inside. While not a high-end cut, it was seasoned well and paired nicely with the eggs. The eggs were prepared just right—runny yolks that went perfectly with the toast provided on the side. The crispy hash browns were golden, crunchy, and a great complement to the meal, soaking up the yolk and steak juices for extra flavor.
Service was quick and friendly, with coffee refills and extra condiments brought without hesitation. The atmosphere is typical of Denny’s—casual, bustling, and welcoming to families, late-night diners, and anyone craving a comfort-food breakfast at any hour.
Overall, Denny’s delivers on its promise: reliable comfort food, good portions, and a straightforward dining experience. The steak and eggs are a solid choice if you’re looking for a classic diner...
