Just had an unfortunately disappointing experience with this restaurant. When ordering food, special instructions were completely ignored. A member of my family has a severe allergy to spice and we specifically ordered NO SPICY. Order was clarified and repeated, making sure that we would have the meal we ordered. Food arrived fine. Opened up the dish in question and was bombarded with an absurd amount of spice. I personally am a big fan of spice but I cannot have it around when this family member is dining with us. The person who ordered had to leave the room as they were already starting to have their throat close up and was coughing heavily. This, along with two additional meals had this same issue. After letting the house air and promptly disposing the food, we called the restaurant to ask for a refund. We then got to meet the lovely manager at the time. This man comes on the phone and, after we explained in detail what happened, refused to give us anything besides a $20 credit towards the meal. This $20 barely covered one of the dishes and when asked why it was messed up, said "we can't measure the spice, we have no control over how spicy it is". After calming voicing concern over the cheap offer, the man said "maybe you shouldn't order food if you can't handle it". He then hung up before we could say anything. I was appalled by this behavior as I don't consider having an allergy "not being able to handle it". This man was the manager and I hope he does not treat any other customers in this way. Beyond disappointed and I would consider thinking twice before ordering from this place. Hopefully you won't have the...
Read moreThis is the first time I went to Imperial Chinese. They advertise a "vegan" menu! Since I'm entirely plant based, I thought I'd check it out. Unfortunately some of their staff weren't well informed about the vegan menu options. Their response to my questions led me to believe it really wasn't vegan after all. So I just ordered some sautéed vegetables. They were very tasty. I posted a Google review questioning whether the restaurant truly offered vegan options. The owner was informed by his employees about my concerns. He read my original Google review and promptly responded informing me the vegan options are truly vegan and prepared in separate oil from the other meat products. I'm looking forward to returning to try out the vegan menu.
July 13, 2023 - UPDATE I took my wife to the Imperial Chinese Restaurant today to check out their vegan menu. Both my wife and I are plant-based. We ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken, the Cashew Nut Chicken and the Broccoli & Snow Peas. We found them to be amazing. We’ve eaten at a number of Chinese restaurants across the country that offer vegan options. This menu ranks up with the best. I highly recommend their restaurant if you are looking for great plant-based Chinese food in the Simi Valley area. Sam, the owner, his manager Marco, and the staff are all pleasant people....
Read moreMy mom and I decided to try this place for lunch today. The woman working near the front seated us by the kitchen and we browsed the menu. We watched her pass out a starter appetizer to every table except ours. She passed by and I attempted to politely ask her if we could have the appetizer and she quickly cut me off. I couldn't even get two words out before she said "ask your waiter". Ummmm ok. We waited. And waited. Tables that sat after us were actually receiving food before we even placed our beverage order! Other tables were staring at us. Confused why we were receiving no service at all. Honestly, I have no idea why we were ignored. We should have left. The food was ok. I think not being serviced or treated differently just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Safe to say, we are...
