Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Sioux City

I will NEVER return to Sonic in Sioux City. I went with the wife on a date while in Sioux City, and went to Sonic for a shake and some BBQ chip tots. She got a hamburger and shake. A large shake is $12. TWELVE DOLLARS. You can look on the Sonic app and see what other Sonics charge for the same. Omaha is $6.50, Concordia KS that I had been at 2 weeks prior, is under $5.50. When I asked if it was REALLY $12 for a shake, we got a snotty, "Well, it IS 42oz of ice cream". Sure, but why is it twice as much as other Sonics? BBQ chip tots were swimming in a 1/2" of oil in the container, and weren't all even seasoned with the BBQ seasoning. Half were just plain tots. My wife asked for no onions on the hamburger, and while eating it on the way home, there were onions on it. My shake was good, it was just priced way too high. Went to try the new banana shake. This location is charging over $10 for it…waited over 20 minutes in the drive thru for it. There was a sign saying they were out of straws. When we got up to the window the employee handed us a bare straw from like a pack you get at Walmart. No big deal except his hands had what looked like wall plaster all over them. It was disgusting. Had to wait till we got home to try the shake with one of my straws. It was OKAY, not worth $10. Artificial banana pudding taste. A few weeks ago we went here for food. I got a burger and got it home to find out there was a massive amount of mustard on it. Like soaked, oozing out. I had to throw it out. Corporate needs to intervene because clearly the franchise owner can’t handle whatever the issues are. You can only blame the pandemic so much, I feel there’s something else going on here. They need to hire good managers. The little girls working were high schoolers without experienced supervision and it was busy and the poor young ladies were doing their best. But people were being mean and had them tattled. We ordered 4 simple items and our order was all messed up.

These kids were busting their butts trying to give good service, but from the look of it, they didn't have an experienced manager. Sonic pays low wages for adult management help from what I understand. Yet they charge premium prices, our order for 4 medium shakes was over $40.00! And we got such terrible service it was painful to watch these poor kids keep messing up our order. Sonic is at fault for not having proper management and proper training for their help. Our service was terrible and these poor kids had to work shift from hell. I won't be returning to Sonic anytime soon, if ever. I wouldn't recommend Sonic to...
