First time at Jim's. I typically stick with chain restaurants that I know, but I'm trying to branch out and sample the local options. Seems like there are a lack of local fast food places anywhere. Most locally owned restaurants I usually see are sit-down and/or bar style. Well, often I don't want that experience. I just want a quick bite, so grab a Whopper and move on.
I was glad to find Jim's here in Sioux City. It is more of a fast food or fast casual style place, where you order at the counter and it's ready after a few minutes. No fuss with waiters or interacting with a ton of people you don't have the energy for.
They have a ton of different options here, surely something for everybody. Burgers, Mexican food, breakfast items, various sides. Fountain drinks or bottled beverages are available. Prices seem to be in line with anywhere else. I wish I could find more local/independent places like this in my travels.
I had the bacon cheeseburger with fries. Very impressed. Crispy fries, nice-sized burger, cooked fresh, and well put together. And of course, it all tasted great!
There was a sign that said you're limited to 1 refill on the fountain drinks. While that's all I needed tonight, that was disappointing to see, among a world (or rather, a USA) of unlimited refills.
The interior seemed like it could use an update, but that's really just my opinion and a strictly cosmetic issue. It was clean, and nothing was broken. It just had a 2000s-era vibe is all, while everybody else is switching/has switched to more modern looks. On the bright side, it was a bit nostalgic. Reminded me of going to Burger King when...
Read moreWe've always enjoyed the food at Jim's, but on a Wednesday evening, December 14 around 6:30 pm I went through the drive thru and ordered a chicken quesadilla, 4 chicken tacos and 2 orders of fries. Ive never had a problem with the order being wrong and the there was a container that the quesadilla was in along with abag of the other food , so i didnt look at each item in the bag before leaving. Drove home (a little over 15 minutes), got our food out and discovered we had a chicken quesadilla, 1 order of fries and a cheeseburger. My husband has to eat gluten free, so he could only eat the fries. I understand orders can get mixed up, so besides not really having supper to eat I figured they would compensate us later. It was cold and late enough that we certainly weren't going to drive back into town. I called and was adamantly told the ONLY way they could help us is to bring the whole wrong order back in and exchange for the right food. That would mean we couldn't even eat the 2 right things in the order. And why would they want that food back??? We got less than we paid for and they were very unwilling to do anything to make their mistake right. I would have been satisfied with them telling me we could at a later date get the 4 chicken tacos and fries that we didn't get. Sorry, but that poor of customer service isn't worth going...
Read moreWe ordered a few items this morning.. chicken nachos, chef salad, and a burger. We live about 2 mins from this location. I've worked in the food industry. And there's there's some very rude people in out there.. I get it, but the food we ordered. Was just not good. So I tried to call them.. to ask.. I get things aren't always perfect. But the nachos after traveling for about 5min at most. And they arrived warm ish and soggy. The chef salad after eating 3/4ths of it I found a 8inch or so long hair stuck round a piece of ham. The dressing had a very weird cholonge like tinge to it.. not to mention the meat and cheese in it looked like it was taken off of day old sandwiches, I'm not super picky or rude so I attempted to pick it apart and eat it .. but it was just .. off ? Also they refused to do anything about it.. told my dad to get lost basically.. that's one way to treat...
