We tried to go on a Monday night. It took about twenty minutes to find it because they don't have a sign. Their website clearly stated that they were open (I pulled it up in their parking lot). All their doors were locked. Fantastic.
We went a few weeks later on a Tuesday. It was surprisingly busy. We were told it would be about 25 minutes for a table (this was reasonably accurate). It took a full ten minutes before someone came to the bar and served us. They make a good whiskey sour.
We were seated and had a pretty pleasant waiter. All of the waitstaff seemed to be pretty busy, our waiter included, and he apologized for getting distracted and taking a while to get our order. After that, though he passed by our table repeatedly, he stopped only a few more times. We had empty drinks for about ten minutes, and it took another ten minutes to get a glass of wine (we stopped someone else and they got it for us).
The steaks were exceptional. I won't equivocate. They were excellent.
After we had eaten, it took a full thirty minutes to get our check. Thirty minutes. Our waiter just would not a) stop at our table or b) return if we flagged him down and told him what we wanted. Ultimately, someone else got our check, and after another entirely-too-long wait, someone else finished it for us.
It was unacceptable treatment. We genuinely felt like this was because we were the youngest people in the restaurant (by about 20 years). We felt like we got no attention because we weren't considered as important as older, better dressed customers and bigger parties. Well, if we were given poor service because he expected a poor tip, it was a self-fulfilling prophecy. Can't tip well for a guy who did a terrible job. We were ignored, not figuratively, but literally. Not once, but repeatedly. A one-hour meal took two and a half hours. No less than four different people helped us at our table. Whereas we noticed that our waiter paid much closer attention to the table immediately behind us.
It was a great steak, but it wasn't worth being miserable. Why would I want to...
Read moreI don't usually leave bad reviews because I have learned that you really shouldn't say anything if it isn't positive but when someone is trying to make a decision on putting their hard earned money to good use I don't think this restaurant deserves its current rating it has on Google. After eating there, this by far was the absolute worst restaurant experience I have ever had. The atmosphere is an old dungy house that makes you want to leave the moment you walk in. We had reservations but weren't seated for a whole hour after. They did have a small bar that could have you feeling claustrophobic. Combine that with the fact that there was zero music playing, and having to wait for the one bar tender that was making drinks not just for the bar area but for every table in the entire restaurant, made the wait feel twice as long. We weren't even offered to look over the menu or an appetizer while we waited. Once seated the service was below average and the entire meal took over 3 hours to complete. Everyone's steak at our table was over cooked but because of how long it had already been we weren't sending it back. With that being said it did have good flavor still. Now the final kicker, the price. It was outrageous when you combine all of these factors. I have eaten at about every nice restaurant in New Orleans and for the price we could have saved money at any of them. I will never be returning to this establishment. I would like to add that at least the staff was friendly and polite. But if you are going to spend 5 star money then you should do it at a 5...
Read moreWe took my mom last night for her birthday dinner. We started to get concerned because they were out of a few things until the waitress told us they opted not to get the crawfish because it was frozen, not fresh. We then realized the quality. My steak was prepared perfectly! The baked potato was even cooked to perfection. The white chocolate bread pudding was more like a gooey layered cinnamon roll and was devine! Of course, we waddled or because we were so full. Thank...
