Went there on Fat Tuesday to listen to Jazz, thinking a whole band would be there, but it was just one guy playing the keyboard. He was good doing the New Orleans style thing, but I was disappointed there was no saxophone, which the guy plays. There were colorful beads on the table and masks. Not very many people were there 7-8pm, which surprised me since this was a special night they usually are not open. I asked if they had a bottle of Fat Cat wine. Nope, they never heard of it. I never tried it, saw it on a vegan wine list online. Thought for sure they would sell a wine with the same name as their bar. No vegan champagne to celebrate my birthday with, and no Spanish wines, so I settled for a draft Michelob which was cold and delicious. I don't remember what it cost. For a bar that claims they have a hundred different wines, and I saw the wines they have, it was a letdown. The kitchen was closed yet online says they have a buffet, not that I came to eat. The waitress was nice and attentive, and the owner went out of his way to please my eclectic tastes but alerted me to the fact that his wife really runs the bar, not him. This bunny will hop back in someday to see if they ever get Fat Cat wine on their shelves.

Absolutely LOVED this place! We stumbled upon fat cat lounge after our original idea for a birthday dinner was packed with a birthday party, and I am so glad we did! The atmosphere is so relaxed and welcoming, like going to a friends house, and the (I think) owner and the waitress were amazing and helpful with wine and food selection! But the crown jewel of this place, the food; I don’t even know how to describe how wonderful the food was but it was wonderful to say the least. We collectively had the creamy Jalapeno dip, lasagna, a bison burger, and bread pudding! Everything is homemade, including the dressing (blue cheese was fantastic) I recommend all of it! Just go there, you will love it!

The Fat Cat Cafe is pure Texas charm at its best. The folks running the place couldn’t be friendlier—felt like I was hangin' out with old friends. They turned me on to a local brew I hadn't had yet, and let me tell ya, that wagyu beef burger hit the spot, especially knowing it came straight from the owner’s own cattle. The vibe inside is fun with local art and yarn tapestries giving it that true Texas local feel. It’s the kind of place you can’t help but love, and I’ll sure as hell be back!

We went to Smithville, Texas, for the first time for a family wedding. The rehearsal dinner was here, and it was beyond amazing. Lori was so kind and helpful. She set up the room beautifully with her decor and let us come early to add our decorations from home, too. The restaurant was so welcoming and fun. We had lovely wine from her fabulous wine collection, and we could visit, meet people, and enjoy the night in this fun, relaxing atmosphere. Everyone there to help and serve was so good and just made sure we were all taken care of. They were so lovely and fun; we would have asked them to join us for the festivities. The food was delicious. We’ve never had such good dishes anywhere, and dessert, too. Most of us went back for seconds.

On the day after the wedding, Lori catered a beautiful brunch with more delicious food. She knows dishes for all parts of the day, which is unusual. The quiches were so good that we ran out, along with all the other wonderful brunch dishes and juice.

We were shocked and saddened that this place was closing. What a loss for Smithfield. We would love to have Lori in California and enjoy her fantastic food and hospitality all the time. Thank you so much for the best time in Texas! We’ll...

My husband and I went out to the Fat Cat Lounge and Cafe today for lunch. Lemme tell y’all everything we had was amazing! We started with the trio dip appetizer (we chose Crack Chicken Dip, Spinach and Artichoke Dip, and their Hummus) all were freaking delicious! We had the special Watermelon Gazpacho Soup which was so flavorful and refreshing…we both finished it and wanted to lick the bowl clean it was so good! For our main meal I had the Bacon Jam Blue Cheese Burger with Chef Rob’s farm raised beef. It was one of the best burgers I have ever had! My hubby ordered the Chef’s Special a Pulled Pork Sandwich and it was so delicious! Probably the best pulled pork sandwich he’s ever had! If you haven’t tried Fat Cat Lounge and Cafe, you need to do it right now!! We will be adding this restaurant to our favorites and will be making regular visit to try out more of their menu! Just so you know everything on the menu is local farm to table! We didn’t have time to get pictures of our food because we were hungry and everything was...
