Update: ANOTHER new owner. The previous 5 star was the previous (2nd since Iāve been coming here) owner.
Another wiped loyalty program. Donāt think, āOh, I just paid, Iāll get my free drink next time.ā Because this is the second time I remembered I had a free drink to ask for it and⦠the points were gone. š¤·š»āāļø
Food options arenāt what they used to be, but THIS owner has only owned it a month and does still have the Cheesy Sargent out back. Previously, they had a local woman providing pastries and sandwiches and such. They mixed things up. Today, it looked like the same items from yesterday. Nothing new. And the muffins⦠donāt look like theyāre made in Smithville (or any other stores located in the county) anymore. I could be wrong, and again this could be a transition.
The gift shopping⦠Iām just not sure when it started going south. Now, they still have a lot of high quality items and some locally made items. But, Iām starting to see some cheap Chinese products (like some American Flag sunglasses) that are clearly Temu/Amazon items. I know, I had those sunglasses for a costume. I mean, there were always items from elsewhere. However, they appeared to try to source locally. Small companies. Local authors. Today saw candles from⦠I think it was the Carolinas. I didnāt think until I left to look at the origination of more items. And, Iām going to have to start making the dog treats I used to get there. Now, there was a decent Motherās Day table with some cute things and if youāre going to a baby shower, you will find something here. Hopefully they are just in transition.
And I just realized⦠they used to have lots of Texas items. Plates, gifts, etc. Maybe they sold, but Iām not sure this will remain my first stop for gifts. Not writing them off, but going to have to see the direction they take.
Still good coffee.
Original 5 star review: Always great service and great coffee.
And most important, they always actually have coffee. Many places in town are routinely out of their core options. The coffee house is one that Iāve always been able to get a drink.
Plus, they always have great options...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place brings my heart so much joy. When I walk in, I immediately feel like I belong, like Iām family. Not only is the coffee amazing, but they have beautiful gifts for all occasional. Iāve bought shirts, books, paintings, ornaments and more. I bring all my friends visiting here as a āmust see/shop/sipā. I enjoy coming in, grabbing an iced cowboy coffee with oat milk and listening to their awesome music. If I get lucky the manager, Kevin, will chat with me, which I really enjoy. Heās a doll. I genuinely love and appreciate the Smithville General Store being here and making our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDark haired girl making the drinks ruined this place her attitude. Made drinks out of order taken. Asked for hot tea with several pumps of honey. got scalding hot tea filled to brim (it spilled out and burned my hand), had to ask for Honey, got two tiny pumps of honey with attitude from the girl. Ordered hazelnut donuts, got plain, asked them if I could have the hazelnut that I ordered, she again had an attitude about correcting my order. Very disorganized and...
