The Lake Stop — Restaurant in Smithville

If you like small overpriced bland burgers, cold French fries and getting up and going to the bar to refill your own drinks, this is the place for you!! The two burgers at our table were well overcooked and had zero flavor. The tenderloin wasn’t too bad, it was the only thing we ordered that was eaten in its entirety. The fries were colder than some of the other reviews on here, but luckily it was a hot day and we were sitting on the patio, so the fries got a little warmer as they sat on the table. The service we received was pretty sub-par, the girl wandering around seemed a little lost but at least appeared to be in a good mood, the guy that took our order made it very apparent he did not want to be at work that day. We were looking forward to the chili cheese fries but unfortunately they never made it to the table even though we asked about them twice. There were only three other tables of patrons at the time, so it’s not like they were slammed.

Enough about the negative. The beer was cold!! Even though we had to go to the bar to refill beers and waters, it was cold and refreshing.

All in all the place has a ton of potential but is going to take some better management to succeed. The current quality of food and service won’t be enough to survive. There are too many other better options in town. We hadn’t heard a good thing about the place from folks on the street and now we know why. I do hope they figure it out before...

We went on Thursday specifically to drink and sing karaoke. It was our first time there. There was a family with kids inside and 3 tables outside with guests. We ordered our drinks and went outside. This was around 8:30pm. We sat and talked. Nicole came out to make sure we needed anything and brought us drinks. Dom also came out and chatted and brought us more drinks. Around 10pm we figured the kids would have left by then, so we asked Dom about when kids normally leave so that the adults could enjoy karaoke without a bunch if 9 year olds running around. He said he was friends with their mom and he wasn't sure when they would be leaving. There was a table of 4 adults out there at that time, too, who wanted to do karaoke but not while there were still little kids there. We waited until 10:30pm and the cildren were still there so we decided to leave and spend our money somewhere else. So, not only did they lose our money but the potential for more from the other adults that wanted to stay but didn't because of little children there. We ended up spending $189 at Author's instead because of this and won't be back. I hope they learn that they'll make more money catering to EVERYONE instead of friends of the staff and that karaoke at a bar normally means drinking adults who want to let loose without children...

Madison did a great job serving. She brought the utensils as soon as we requested them. This restaurant is new, so come to this small lake town with a relaxed lake attitude and relax while you wait for your food. They were not super fast but I did not wait that long. Since they are new, they are still getting their processes and their ticket times faster every day that they are in business. Give them a little bit to get going and ignore the reviews of the people who say how slow they are. Glad to have another good restaurant in this town. Long Island iced teas were great. Burger and fries were awesome. One critique on may 1st 7pm the fries were a little too salty for my taste. They were cooked perfect and looked like it has some great seasoning on it but the salt overpowered it. I bet this was just a mistake for the one night. Also, the fries were not that hot but again as they work on ticket times this will get better overall it was a great experience and I know it’s only gonna get better as their staff gets more used to their surroundings.
