Short version: yum. Longer version: I've been in the area about five years. Apparently Herfy's is some kind of small-town chain or franchise. I've noticed at least a couple others in Washington as well. I tend to think of chains/franchises in two categories: fast food places with frightening consistency (McDonald's/Subway), or sit-down restaurant chains (Red Robin/Outback Steakhouse). Offhand I can't even remember where I saw the other two Herfy's. Both were in sort of odd and remote places - kind of like the one in Snoqualmie. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Since I have only been to the Snoqualmie location, I have no idea how consistent the various Herfy's may or may not be. I don't even know how many there are. The facility itself is unimpressive. It is an older place. The inside is outdated and could maybe use a good deep cleaning and renovation, but nothing that would keep me away. The staff at any given moment seems to be at most three people, usually two. One person works the counter and keeps the dining area tidy; the other works the kitchen. I've probably been to Herfy's 10 times now, and I think every single time the person in the kitchen has been the same guy. He is of Asian origin (Japanese I think), perhaps in his 50's, and he seems very friendly and appreciative of his customers. I wonder if maybe he owns the joint, since he always seems to be there, and is always doing the critical grill and fryer work. Whatever the case, he knows his stuff. Keep your eyes open for him. If he is in the kitchen, you should have a darn good experience. The burgers are delicious, and you can get them with just about whatever you want on them. My wife really digs avocado on hers. I hadn't heard of that before outside of California. In terms of quality, their burgers are right up my alley. There are not many places that can hit the perfect middle point in in the BurgerSpectrum (I think I'll trademark that). On the low end of that spectrum you have the McDonald's/Burger Kings of the world. Sure, it tastes pretty good, but is clearly a mass-produced corporate product. On the high end of that scale sits the nicer dine-in restaurants. Those places also make burgers that are good enough, but they tend to overdo things with oddly thick patties, gourmet buns, excessive vegetables, and mediocre french fries. Despite their efforts to create a pleasing visual presentation, these higher-end joints end up tasting inexplicably boring. Snoqualmie Herfy's hits the sweet spot. This is a casual, greasy-spoon kind of burger. It will never be exactly the same any two times you try it. Once you find a place like Herfy's you will deeply regret the next time your order a burger from your neighborhood Appleby's. Herfy's just tastes better. Your hamburger will be wrapped up in paper, and your french fries will be in a cheap cardboard basket. Herfy's does not waste time and payroll on fancy packaging or presentation...and you will not care one bit. In the shadow of the burgers you will find a number of other great menu items. Their french fries are shoestring-ish, and always fresh. They are not as thin as Steak-n-Shake (if you know what that is), but not as thick as McDonald's either. Herfy's fries are pretty darn good, and the guy in the kitchen knows how to cook them. What surprises me is that despite really enjoying the burgers, I don't order them anymore. One time a while back I picked up dinner for the family. I wasn't in a burger mood at the time, so I ordered the breaded chicken sandwich. I had it dressed with cheese, pickle, and mayo. It was just so fantastic that I now order the chicken sandwich instead. Herfy's costs more than McD, but not by much. To feed a family of four, I spend about $35 at McD. I can get Herfy's for $40, and get larger portions. Give it a shot. The prices are reasonable, the people are friendly, and the food...

Read moreI have a service dog, I have had him for about a year now , he and I ate in training still. I'm still active duty stationed in the Texas, but western washington is home, this place was a long ago favorite of mine. I've never had any issues in any establishment with any of my wiring dogs. He is very well behaved and I am always respectful to the establishment and patrons. And I try to respect their wishes. Herfy, or at least the manager lady that was working that day working for some reason took up a grudge against my dog and I. She tried to tell me that local procedures and health codes over Road federal regulations and rules. I tried to explain to her and properly educate her politely and when she got an attitude I then got an attitude and cause the scene she told me I could wash my dog to a pole outside. I had had enough at that point. I left and a few days later filed a formal ADA complaint against business and its employees. That was the first and hopefully the last time I will ever have to do that it will definitely be the last time I enter one of their establishments. I strongly suggest you stay away from them. They obviously do not support the military nor do they support anyone that requires a service or helper dog in order to be...
