Solana Sumptuous Cookies — Restaurant in Solana Beach

I have been here many times for cookies, they are great and I've paid $10 for 3 cookies. Very pricey, but still splurged. They delivered a birthday cookie for someone in my office with no note card telling a name and who sent it...just name on cookie. Delivery service couldn't tell us who it was for (full name) or who it was from verbally. We gave it to the person in the office with that name who is also having a birthday right now. Turns out it was for someone else in the office, not an employee, so we didn't know his birthday or that it could be for him. I called Solana Sumptuous cookies and spoke to Scarlett - and despite their mistake, they refused to replace the cookie for the correct person as someone (incorrect person) did eat the cookie, it was consumed. What???? I let Scarlett know that is bad business and let her know I would leave this in a review, she said go ahead and repeated they weren't replacing it. She didn't care. My entire office is listening to the convo in disbelief. After I asked to have the owner call me (as I didn't want to pay to replace the cookie), I get a call back from Scarlett stating they are working with the person who placed the order to resolve the issue. THE BEST COOKIES I HAVE EVER HAD. Seriously truly amazing. I live in Orange County and my boss moved to Solana Beach and I had the pleasure of getting to try these cookies and they are truly spectacular. (It's dangerous as they are open late so I can get after work and eat way too many of them.) Marlena the owner is a complete sweetheart and they have handmade ice cream as well. All the staff have been really friendly and the cookies, well they speak for themselves. Real, clean, fresh ingredients. They are not too sweet and really unique and fun flavors. My favorite is the Scarlett letter with organic raspberry(see you get a serving of fruit), and white and dark chocolate, the salted solana beach cookie, peanut butter chocolate, and I eat the rum raisin's for breakfast, best oatmeal raisin I have ever had. Every friend I bring them to absolutely loves them and my husband is English and doesn't like sweet desserts and he loves these. Average cookies, extremely rude owner. I placed an order via telephone for 18 assorted cookies which, according to the price list on their website, should have been $46.50. I was charged $60.16. I assumed it was an honest mistake so I mentioned it when I went to pick them up and the owner refused to refund me the difference. She claimed the pricing sheet online was old, even though it was also printed out in hard copy form in the store. She also informed me that the assorted cookies comes with multiple specialty cookies which have additional charges associated with them, even though this wasn’t indicated on the pricing sheet or mentioned on the phone. Lastly, she tacked on a 5% service charge to “cover operating expenses”. She said if I wanted it removed she would charge me sales tax which is higher, even though I don’t think you can charge sales tax on takeout baked goods in the state of California. I was in a rush so I paid the 60 for my 18 average cookies, but I left feeling scammed and shocked at the owner’s attitude and complete lack of desire to make customers happy. They lost a...
