Don Jose's Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Soldotna

Have lived in Soldotna for 40+ years. Lived in Kenai for 12. often eat at Don Jose's in Soldotna and had good service and great food. Tried to eat there Saturday night. Sweet 20 year old waited on us. My husband ordered a beer. She explained she couldn't serve it but would have the bar maid deliver it. Happy with that, as that happens often. She brought my coke, chips and salsa, took our order...no beer. Asked the waitress and she again said the bar maid would deliver it. Wait.....wait...and wait... Could see the bar maid just visiting and chatting with people at the bar. My husband asked her if he could get his beer. She said she would get it, she was busy. Wait....wait.....and wait. He approached her again. She got snotty and said to sit down she would bring it when she had time. Wait...wait....then she walks past us, to another table and said, what can I get you to drink? No beer. We decided to leave. My husband stopped to tell our waitress to cancel our order and the bar maid pushed him away with her arm and asked him to leave. NEVER have we been treated like that. I understand good help, or any help at all is hard to get now. Everyone else was working hard and doing their best to serve the customers. Too bad one negative person has to ruin the experience. Just thought you should know how this person is treating your customers. Will wait until she is gone to dine...

Entered the building while waiting to be seated watched a kitchen staff walk behind the bar and make themselves a Gin and tonic with Bombay gin. Nice, this immediately made me start questioning quality and standards if they are allowing their cooks and kitchen staff to drink. Waitress was nice and looked to be the only one actually trying to hustle and get customers taken care of. She took our drink and meal order around 7pm. We didn't get our meal till 7:48pm and when brought to us it was not hot it was just luke warm. Chile Colorado which was heavily tomatoe based and tough beef nuggets. The rice was luke warm and so was the beans. Surprisingly the corn tortillas were actually good. My margaritas were just okay. Not the greatest but not the worst margaritas. I got the Glacier melt margarita. My only complaint is the glassware for the cocktail. I'm just not a fan of the...

f I could give zero stars I would. 12 people in the place and it took 25 minutes for 3 margaritas on the rocks. Food was soggy and bland, lettuce brown and wilted, just bad all around. Because of the delay I asked the server for a discount on the drinks and the manager came over and informed me that she couldn’t do anything for us but a $10 promo and when I asked why she couldn’t do an $18 promo since that would equal what I had asked for she became rude and snappy and got major attitude. I informed her at that point to just give us the $10 because I would rather leave than wait to discuss it with her manager and I will just never return. That’s three of us and hopefully anyone else I can tell....
