Last week I went there for the first time since they relocated.
Now admittedly, I don't have high expectations from them because of previous experience, but they managed to under-perform. I expected to receive a decent value for my dollar and little more.
The food was mediocre at best, my companion had curry and I had pork with a black sauce. I requested medium "heat" for my dish.
In short, my food had some heat to it, but little spice and no complexity of flavor...same taste from bite one to the end of the meal. Meh, at best.
My companion also stated that the curry didn't taste like curry, that it was simply a mild heat sensation and little flavor.
My impression was that they didn't have a professional cook preparing the meals. Instead, quite probably a family member or "second-chair" filling in.
The service staff was also lacking, granted, the store is busier now than it used to be but it wasn't That busy. In short, the appetizers arrived at the table AFTER the meal. Obviously it was an afterthought. The waiter seemed to be more of a kid home from college break than someone who actually wanted a generous tip.
Of course, seeing flies on the windows and tables didn't leave a good impression either. Eh, it's summertime Alaska so some latitude is given.
So...if you were underwhelmed by Siam Noodles before they moved, avoid the new location at least during summer. If you really liked Siam Noodle prior, well, I can't help you there except to suggest that you someday should travel, if not to Thailand at least to Fairbanks, just so you find out how excellent Thai food can be.
I won't go there again. They used to be a good spot for decent food, now they're slightly overpriced for less than a...
Read moreOk so I decided today to give Siam Noodles more of a chance. Everyone says theyre one of the best places to eat but every time I eat here its disappointing. They have more options than Pad Thai Cafe but at what cost honestly.
I ordered taro puffs and milk tea boba among other things + asked for my food to be at least a little spicy but asked for no chili flakes. I heard the more spice you ask for, the more saturated in chili flakes it becomes.
I thought maybe theyd add chili oil or something. ANYTHING other than chili flakes but my food wasnt spicy at all. Showing the spice is only added because of these cheap little flakes you can get from any pizza resturaunt.
I recieved curry puffs instead of my taro puffs- arguably one of the things I was looking forward to most.
They forgot my drink at first and when my bf asked about it they didn't look at their own ticket and wanted us to prove we ordered it despite it being at the top of their own receipt?? It was put together very poorly because they wanted to rush to give it to us and put all the boba on top (boba is suppose to be on the bottom) and the drink itself was an iced coffee instead of the milk tea I asked for.
The food was kinda flavorless but not to the point to where I can complain much I guess.
I spent over $120 for my order. I have no idea why their sides are the same price as a main meal. Every other resturaunt ever has sides be cheaper. Yikes, $14 for 4 curry puffs??
I'm honestly disappointed that their subpar business is taking The Moose Is Loose's old location. There could have been something better.
Just go to Pad Thai Cafe if you're...
