Our first meal here, and I have to admit that we were somewhat "underwhelmed." (Mind you, third generation Italian, and EXTREMELY picky about Italian food...been in the area for 25 years and STILL can't find the kind of places we had in upstate NY...) The "build your own pasta" feature is quite nice with many good options. Unfortunately we suspect that they don't salt their pasta water before cooking, because both meals were pretty bland. Texture was fine, and cooked properly, which can be tricky to do with homemade pastas. We also had the eggplant appetizer, which was lovely, so I'm guessing they do better with non-pasta dishes, or perhaps pizzas. Desserts tasted a little "overcooked," especially the shells on my cannoli (which were very dark brown and had an almost "burnt" taste). Interesting selection of specialty cocktails (although we didn't try any). Reasonable wine selection, highly marked up as most restaurants do (we paid $46 for a chianti that retails for $20 - I checked, but I also expected it, so no problem). Atmosphere was kinda cramped, but we were fine. Service was quite good but mildly "overly-attentive" (conversations were interrupted several times by our waitress who was "just checking in how things are tasting...") but if I had to pick I suppose I'd choose that over being ignored. A solid three stars, but some room for improvement. Might go back to try some other entrees. We did a full bottle of wine, appetizer (shared), dessert and coffee for two for about $200 including tip. Not unreasonable but...
Read moreThey sat us in a booth in the back by the restrooms and kitchen. Upon entering the restaurant they kinda made a fuss because we didn’t have a reservation. ( it was 4:30pm on a Thursday ) the place had very few people. Immediately after being seated I noticed all of our glasses (water and wine) were soiled. I asked for replacements. The server Lavelle, took the glasses away then stood at the bar not doing anything as if to say “ you’re going to wait for your drinks. “ It took at least 10 minutes for us to get our drinks. It was not busy at this time! And he was the waiter and the bar tender. The booth we were placed was uneven and wobbled. Server (Lavelle) never came at any point to see if we needed any more water OR wine which at 10 bucks for a small glass they could have profited. Oil at the table to dip bread in was very spicy. Almost too spicy for an oil. Bread was in cubes and hard and not able to absorb the oil. Food itself was just ok. Nothing special. We had two checks and they put the wrong drinks on the wrong tab. We didn’t complain as we were there with good friends. Then they gave the wrong receipt to the wrong party. Maybe things need to be ironed out as they are fairly new. Even so I don’t know if we would return as we know other restaurants with better food. My husband used the restroom and said it was disgustingly filthy. They have valet parking for a small lot. Not like you have to...

We had dinner at the new Capriccio’s in Solon on Saturday night, and I have to say, it lived up to the anticipation. I’d been eager to check it out—especially since my friend Michael is a partner in the restaurant—and it did not disappoint. We were in town from California and are spoiled with great restaurants.
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting, with that cozy,, trattoria vibe that makes you feel right at home. The open pizza oven was turning out some incredible-looking pies all around us, but we decided to go the entrée route instead.
We started with the meatballs, which were absolutely delicious—tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. A must-order appetizer. For mains, I went with the chicken piccata alongside a side of bucatini tossed in a garlicky olive oil sauce. It was rich, simple, and perfectly balanced. My brother had the chicken parmesan, which was equally fantastic, served with a side of rigatoni that he couldn’t stop raving about.
The cocktails were well-made (maybe a little too generous with the pour—but no complaints there), and prices were very reasonable for the quality and atmosphere.
Overall, Capriccio’s is a hit—great food, friendly service, and a comfortable, lively space that makes you want to come back. Can’t wait...
