Dining at Leonardo’s Ristorante & Pizzeria in Solvang is more than just a meal — it’s an experience rooted in authenticity, warmth, and attention to detail. We were so impressed that we ended up dining there twice during our week-long stay, and both visits were nothing short of exceptional.
Leonardo’s delivers Italian food that’s, in my opinion, as close to the real thing as you’ll find outside of Italy. From the moment you take your first bite, you can tell that every dish is made with heart and heritage.
While the food was stellar, the service highly contributed to this review five stars. My wife is gluten-free, dairy-free, and very sensitive to spicy foods — and yet the staff, specifically our waiter Shawn, worked with us effortlessly to customize dish that was flavorful, beautifully presented, and didn’t make her feel like she was “missing out.” For dessert considering my wife’s dietary restrictions Shawn recommended their delicious lemon sorbet that is creatively stuffed inside of a frozen lemon and the plate garnished with sweet strawberries and chocolate syrup.
Even more impressively, on our second visit, a different waiter — who had never served us before — remembered not only my wife’s dietary restrictions but her exact order from our first visit. From memory alone. If that’s not the definition of excellent customer service, I don’t know what is.
The staff across the board were warm, professional, and genuinely accommodating. It felt like being taken care of by a family that actually cares about what you eat and how you feel.
Between the impeccable service and the unforgettable food, Leonardo’s quickly became the culinary highlight of our trip to Solvang. It’s rare to find a restaurant that treats dietary restrictions not as a burden, but as an opportunity to shine — and even rarer to find one that makes you feel like family after just one visit.

Read moreTo start off the worst experience of my life at a restaurant I showed up on time for my reservation which I said I wanted my party to be inside (since we all run a little cold) got there and was told that the table was ready outside. Strike freaking one. We gave the restaurant our cake for my mother’s birthday dinner since she is allergies we brought our own cake so we can sing later. They put the cake in the refrigerator. So after that we all sat in the cold to order and wait for our food. And wait. And wait...... we waited over 2 hours and 15 minutes to get our food. While I remind you we were in the freezing cold. Also, they took so long to give us our food and the lighting wasn’t sufficient enough for us to see our food as we ate. The reservation was for 7:30 pm we didn’t receive our food until 10 pm mind you they close at 9 pm. Strike two. This visit was a special occasion my mothers birthday. So as we eat our food in the cold we the manger apologized 3 times and the owner apologized 2 times. This how you know it was a bad time for us. Well, we get done eating and we are ready to sing and eat our cake. THEY FUC*ING GAVE OUR CAKE TO SOMEONE ELSE. I don’t think I’ve ever been this upset with an establishment in my whole life. How do you give a hundred cake away to the wrong table. Also what kind of people just eat the cake that they know they didn’t bring. I could not fathom how you mess up this many times in one night for one party. Strike 3. Well, after a restaurant messes up not even this bad they will pay for your food. Nope we still had to pay. They gave us a hundred dollar voucher for our next visit. It’s safe to say we’re not using it. If anyone wants it let me know I’ll personally give it to you cause I want nothing to do with this restaurant again. To top off the whole experience we ask to have the check split and it takes them 20 minutes to come back with a check that’s hasn’t been split. I wish I could give this place -3 stars because I am unsatisfied at...
Read moreRestaurant wants you to order minimum items or total amount per person? We found this place on google ,checked reviews and tried all possible hacks to found a happening place for the evening . So, the day we went on was February 17,2022 we went and got this table and our server was their manager itself ( Rafael if i remember it correctly) but he was the evening manager around 9 pm . we ordered one item penne Leonardo's pasta and we thought we will try this first and ll order more as required as it was our first time to this place. But this guy so called manager was so mean spoiled my day and birthday as he straightaway pointed that is that for you or for her what do you mean by that . so does this restaurant want you to order minimum items per guest ? to me it was mean and disrespectful as you try to make us feel embarrassed of ordering just one thing. But he was mean throughout his time as i brought it to him that he said it on purpose and then he said to cover all his drama that english is my second language. That was a lame excuse of saying second language because if they made you a manager ,i am sure they made sure you know how to provide customer service and be respectful. I am writing this so that it does not happen to anyone else. I would not recommend to spend your date or special nights there or until management can correct it as this so called manager doesn't deserve to be the leader for other staff as he is a bad influence for sure. I urge to owners to look into this incident if they want their business to be fruitful in...
