DO NOT eat here.... I feel compelled to write about our recent experience at the diner last night. My father ordered the roast beef (medium) -- his meat was so dry and well done. They were thin slices that looked like shoe leather. There was no gravy or au jus. By the end of dinner he had stomach pains, and he said later that it tasted funny and within a half hour of returning home he was so violently ill that he threw up repeatedly for about 10 minutes. I ordered the Homemade Stuffed Shells with sausage -- the sausage was overcooked but this was hidden with cheese. The marinara sauce was brown and did not taste like tomato sauce. I couldn't identify the taste but kept saying that it may have been covered with the gravy or au jus that should have been on my Dad's roast beef. The shells were undercooked so they were very tough. The cheese filling had no spices or taste. My husband ordered the fish and chips -- the fish was overcooked and hard and dry inside. The fries were not fresh and it was obvious that they had been sitting around. My mom ordered Veal Francais -- this was the best meal at our table (and the only one that got eaten). Our mistake was that we did not complain. 3 meals were boxed up and brought home but none of us intended to eat them -- we were being polite. Since my Dad was so ill from his roast beef dinner, I feel that we should tell others so you do not make the same mistake that we did. This used to be a fantastic restaurant and we looked forward to going when we came to visit but AVOID the Starview Diner unless you want to clean out your entire system. I would predict that this restaurant will not be around much longer. The parking lot was nearly empty and I think that the community has already moved on to other restaurants because I can't imagine that this was a once in a blue moon situation. If 3 out of the 4 meals were inedible ---- form your own opinion. If you have a suggestion for a great place to eat in the area,...
Read moreI used to love this place, my whole family went every Wednesday but we stopped when my eldest son got a fish entree and was sick for the next 3 days. I was the next to get sick from a turkey sandwich but when my third son got sick from some unrefrigerated spinach. When you walk in you get the musty odor of mold and if you go to the back of the diner by the restrooms you see why, there is a giant hole in the ceiling from what appears to be water damage. It is has been in this condition for at least 2 years. The bathrooms are never properly cleaned. I reported to this to the owner but when we went back the next Wednesday and the same feces stains were still on the toilet. I told the owner again but he swore the restrooms were well maintained. Surely he was aware the toilet seat in the handicapped stall was broken and would slide off if you were not EXTREMELY careful. We finally had to stop going there. It made me very sad as we went there to visit with the waitresses whom we had gotten to know fairly well. I forgot to mention Wednesday is 'Free Cake Night' which translates 'If I don't give it away tonight they won't take it even if I paid THE CUSTOMER TO TAKE IT TOMORROW NIGHT. The cake you'll get is crusty and dry and at LEAST 3-4 days old although the owner states it is only 2 days old. From talking to the waitresses I've learned the owners are not the most responsible op considerate of people to work for and the turnover in waitresses is very high. Makes me sad to leave but if we haden't we never would have found Nimit Palace, GREAT Indian food at very reasonable prices so, something good has come from losing our...
Read moreMy aunts and I went to the Starview Diner for a little girls night out. After having our appetizers, a couple of drinks, catching up on old times and laughing, a customer came over to our table and told us to shut our big fat mouths! We were stunned especially since we only laughed out loud one time! The manager came over and we told him what happened and said that we didn't appreciate the customer talking to us that way. When the customer came out the rest room and passed our table, he made another comment but this time my aunts told him if he had a problem, he should talk to the manager instead of us. He began yelling at us! We decided to ignore the customer and continue with our conversation. Next thing we know, the police come walking up to our table and said the manager wants us to pay and leave! We could not believe it!!!! We didn't do anything wrong but laugh out loud ONE time! Mind you we were sitting in the bar area where bars usually get loud. Why is it that this customer can come over to our table not once but twice and yell at us and say really nasty things to us but we are the ones that get escorted out??? And they made us pay for drinks that we just got served and did not get a chance to drink!!! The manager got really nasty with us after the cops came!!!! I am not one to pull the racism card but I have NEVER felt so disrespected and treated so unfairly in my life! I was completely speechless! All because we laughed out...
