The good and the bad. The good - Their pizza is phenomenal, second-to-none in the area and the vast majority of their other offerings are very delicious - like their eggplant parmigiana (both the sub and the entree,) so good, make ya wanna slap yo Mamma. I’ve been going here since they were in Margate and long before they moved to the city of Somers Point. Their pepperoni pies have always been consistent, mozzarella cheese is salted just right and they use the little pepperonis that curl up into those mouthwatering grease cups which only the best pizza-makers know to use. The pepperoni alone is a game-changer and superior to most. The bad - Food is amazing as stated above, however, the customer service is absolutely horrendous and the delivery people are in another world. Most of the time, the people who take orders over the phone, tend to have a VERY snarky attitude. It wasn’t always like this, I think the changes in management over the years led to this - that’s my guess, but it’s still no excuse. The delivery drivers typically arrive quickly, even during busy times (i.e. weekends, sports games etc,) but once the driver arrives and regardless if you’re paying cash or card, they are just absolute slowskis. Watching them make change is like watching my 3-year-old daughter playing cashier with her friends in their imaginary store. I especially despise when ANY delivery driver asks, “How much you want back?” - I always find this a bit disrespectful and pushy for a tip. In the states, we are supposed to tip our hosts, servers, counter-persons, delivery drivers and the like, it’s our culture. When I was a delivery driver for a local pizzeria many years ago, I would NEVER have the audacity to insinuate a tip - ever. I get that some drivers could be just starting their shift and may not have much change but they should had taken care of that prior to taking a delivery to a customer. Another reason a driver may insinuate a tip is due to the fact (and even I’ve personally come to understand as a former delivery driver,) that some people just don’t tip at all. Shame on the customer who does that. Don’t want to tip? Pick it up yourself. These delivery drivers RELY on tips to help pay for things like bills, groceries, GAS AND MAINTENANCE ON THE VEHICLE THAT ALLOWS THEM TO BEING THE FOOD TO YOUR DOORSTEP. With cards, some delivery drivers will take the slip out of their pocket (in which the receipt slip is usually tucked into a clip of a pen for convenience,) they pull the receipt out of said clip and sloooooowly unfold it as if an architect just found the scroll-of-life buried deep underground and finally hand it to you for your signature. There are 3 main things that I personally look-out for when giving a review for any type of eating establishment - Food, cleanliness and customer service. Micchelli’s had, in the past, been able to exceed all 3 with flying colors, however, over the recent years, customer service / friendliness has been lacking immensely and I truly hope they can work on this as the restaurant truly has spectacular food and is very well-maintained and clean but the customer service needs to be retrained. I’m not saying they need to speak to you like royalty and treat you like so, just a smile here and there followed with a friendly tone makes a world...
Read moreI hate to complain but when I called to express my concern I was basically met with "so what" so I'll share my story in an effort to keep someone else from the same fate - 5 hungry people, 24 pieces of dry chicken and only a few tablespoons of sauce!!! We stopped in to pick up some buffalo wings and requested the sauce on the side. When we arrived home we found that for 24 pieces of chicken they only include 2 small containers of sauce and one small container of blue cheese. Incidentally, that is the same amount of sauce they provide for a 12 piece chicken so 12 and 24 pieces of chicken get the same 2 small containers of sauce and one container of blue cheese. So moral of the story is if you buy chicken here with sauce on the side buy extra sauce or go to a normal grill that provides adequate sauce. It is good chicken like any other place, the sauce is good too just not enough and very poor service. (Picture below is of the one container of sauce you get with 12 piece chicken!!! Ketchup to reference size.) EDIT 8/10/21: last time we got wings here we did the sauce on the wings and there was plenty, changed my stars to 3! EDIT 7/18/23: changing the starts to 4 since we've eaten there a few times and service is better and the prices are good...
Read moreWe ordered a Sicilian pie with extra cheese and mushrooms. We also ordered cheese fries and mozzarella sticks. The cheese that was on the middle of the pizza was clumped up, and alot of it wound up stuck to the top of the box. This is at least the second time this has happened. Looking at the rest of the pizza, the cheese was very light. It was as if we didn't order extra cheese at all. There were barely any mushrooms on the pie.The order of fries was very sparce as well. If they are going to do that, they should have a small and large order. We would've gotten the large. I specifically told the girl answering the phone that I wanted extra cheese, and that the last time I did that, there was barely any cheese on the pizza. She assured me that it wouldn't happen again, but it did. My husband called them and voiced our concerns. We've been ordering from them for many years. They used to have great pizza. I don't know what's happened the past few years, but we won't be ordering from them again. It's a shame, because their Sicilian pie has the best crust in the area. I'm going to miss...
