$71 pizza order(including tax+tip)
All 3 pizzas were raw/ extremely undercooked, floppy, soggy, gummy. I refused to eat mine after a few bites and spitting it out. Others had to turn on the oven, wait for it to heat up and cook theirs. They were still not good at all, sadly.
I drove back with mine and they agreed it was undercooked as I also showed pics of the other pizzas. They kindly said they would give a full refund on the credit card(I hope also the tip). This is the right thing to do, thank you for that.
You could buy about 10-15 frozen pizzas from Walmart that taste much better than this, which is extremely sad to say. Or, 3x more pizzas from Papa John's/Domino's or any other chain for this price that also taste SO much better, which is also extremely sad to say.
Not mad, very disappointed(although it also was a waste of my time, gas, ruined the night and even more time to come here to leave you an extended review). Here's some tips: 1.) Believe there is a problem. 2.) Take less orders/night, but open the phone line. 3.) Set standards. Triple check all orders on whether they're completed fully to order and made correctly. If you don't have time to check them for perfection, you've taken too many orders for the manpower you have. 4.) Understand that you're not Walmart, you're a small business in 2025. I love mom & pop shops, but only when they try/succeed at being superior. This was one one of the most terrible pizzas I've ever ordered.. This is helpful criticism. 5.) You can refer to tip 1, or potentially shut down fairly quickly after the rush of people die out if you don't make changes sooner than later. Bonus tip.) Consider lowering prices because even after cooking them in our own oven, the tastes were not worth the money in the least bit/not good/not worth the calories and were fed to animals.
Things you're doing right that I experienced: full refund & a lady at the counter who didn't make it difficult for that. Decisions like that give you potential though! Thank you.
**EDIT: I'm trying to say this in the nicest way possible, I don't mean it to sound rude at all, it's just facts. Owner replied blaming the oven instead of acknowledging the fact he decided to serve people raw pizza. He very well could have put it back in or canceled all orders for the night if the statement is true about the oven not working correctly. He also guilt tripped someone else who wrote a review on their experience with this order(since we combined our order into one) and they took it down because of that. Both people had a negative experience, both people deserve to write a review on similar and different parts of their experience without being guilt tripped.
This whole experience is giving me flashbacks to Chef Ramsey's old "kitchen nightmares" TV show, lol. I'm trying to be helpful and transparent, I'm sorry if it is upsetting. Don't try to tell me I'm kicking a small business. You kicked yourself and you're trying to guilt trip negative reviewers. Everyone deserves their review if they were part of an order or tried to order in some...
Read moreMy wife and I had the privilege of getting a table for two on their first night being open. First impressions walking in were that the interior of the train was remodeled beautifully and was warm and inviting. We were greeted and shown to our table quickly. After a few minutes we were able to place our order where we went for two New Haven style pies, the classic and the roni. The wait time for the pizzas was definitely a bit longer than expected but I think the kitchen deserves a little slack it being the first night and all. The wait was well worth it once the pizzas arrived at the table. At first glance they definitely hit the thin and crispy mark. However, picking a slice up and turning it over I was a little surprised to not see that dark charcoal undercarriage that New Haven style is famous for. Despite that, the pizza felt firm and crisp. First bites were met with strong sourdough and Parmesan flavors and a very satisfying crunch. The pepperonis were the perfect thickness and had a very nice cupped shaped and crispy edge. $18 for the classic and $19 for the roni is an absolute bargain when considering the quality and freshness of the ingredients. If I were to rate the pizza out of 10 it earns a solid 8.6. If the Parmesan was dialed back slightly and the undercarriage was darkened up I think they would land themselves firmly in the 9’s. With that being said Railway Pie has certainly earned their spot as the #1 pizza place in the Somerset, Swansea,...
Read moreWe had been excited to try this place due to the area not having good pizza places anywhere and this pizza looks delicious. On Friday 8/1 we tried calling and we were on hold for 20 minutes but chalked that up to it was close to the end of the night. On Saturday 8/2 - we called at 5 pm to place and order, we were on hold for 20 minutes, until we actually arrive at Railway Pie. Went to the takeout window to be told that you were all booked for take-out, and we would need to order any take-out orders 24 hours in advance using the website. We tried to place a takeout order Saturday for Sunday. Trying to navigate thru the website to find the option to place the order until we say a piece of pizza in the tope right corner. But unfortunately, on the top screen in red a message reads "online ordering not available for takeout" Very discouraging after no disclaimer anywhere on your website or other search engines, when you opened that this was how you were taking order. Then go to your business to be turned away and pointed to online ordering, to then not being able to order online at all or by phone. I gave this a 3 star because I know there are bumps in the road with opening a business and could possible re-evaluate this if we ever get an opportunity to order a pizza thru phone or website or...
