Anna's! Oh man, this is the first and last place I come to everytime I come to visit my friend up in Boston since it's right by the train. I just had to find it and review it.
What can I say? It's like mexican food except somehow it's not exactly what you expect either. I usually get burritos and not quesadillas at most places of this caliber since the former tend to have much more content, but at Anna's a quesadilla is basically a toasty warm burrito with tons of cheese melted all over in an awesome mixture of flavor. My mouth waters as a write about it.
They have a variety of toppings to add on, and they're always fresh and the meat is juicy. The staff is pretty nice too, all the while being fast and to the point with their preparation so that the line keeps moving and people don't have to wait long. Efficiency and service at its finest. And I really like the fact that they offer traditionally hispanic drinks like Jupiña, since it's hard to find those at other places, even other mexican places. And to top it all off, their tortillas are somehow always able to handle the onslaught of meat, cheese, vegetables, and other toppings crammed into each burrito or quesadilla.
I really did not expect such a good fast foodish mexican place up in Boston, but I was definitely...
Read moreI ordered from this place on different parts of the city, depending on where I am when comes to take a break from job to eat something. I ordered many times before in Boston, Porter Sq, and usually when l order a burrito or bowl they about same price, including one protein plus other toppings, like lettuce, tomato, cheese, rice and beans. I understand that are toppings they charge extra like sour cream and other veggies. But in Somerville on Davis Square, when I order a chicken bowl, on top of what they charge for the bowl if I get one protein they charge $2.40. I asked why to the person on the register and another issue, they can’t understand me. I tried to ask in Spanish and one guy said the bowl price is just a basic price that doesn’t include any meat (protein), for a regular chicken bowl they charged me $12.47 when menu says $8.95. And the time before I added sour cream and couple other veggies and they charged almost $17. That was definitely too much for a chicken bowl, it is pretty much the price of a dinner plate at some restaurant. The portion are very small too, the bowl was filled up to maximum 3/4 quarters of what the...
Read moreThis isn’t a true taqueria so don’t get your hopes up, sure they’re open late and are on the inexpensive side but I’d rather spend more money on a burrito if it’s going to be done right. I ordered a burrito through UberEats and the steak was so dry and the burrito lacked so much flavor. There was more cilantro in my burrito and none in the guacamole, guacamole was bland, had no salt or lime. The only good thing on the menu is there horchata and their chips which are probably store bought. If I was in Davis sq I’d just hop on the red line and go to Felipe’s taqueria, it’s the same price for food that’s so much better. Eventually I gave up on trying to like the burrito so I threw half of it away and said goodbye to my 14 dollars. There are so many places where you could get a better burrito and probably for cheaper too. Anna’s taqueria is just another bad food chain restaurant in the making, food is not traditional nor spot on with flavors. The only thing they got going for them and is that it’s edible, affordable, and can pass off as a “Mexican restaurant” because of its name. The biggest misrepresentation of...
