We found the Happy Crab accidentally and we are so grateful for this accident. We are a family of 6 and try to go as often as we can which is probably 6 times a year. The owner is an absolute sweetheart and she runs around taking care of her guests like they are family. While we have enjoyed some appetizers in the past we really go for the seafood boil and everyone customizes their bad accordingly. I always get clams, mussels, crawfish, head on shrimp and a lobster tail and I cannot convey to you how incredibly delicious it is. You get a bib to wear because it can get a little messy but that’s honestly half the fun. The seafood comes in a bag with potatoes and corn in every bag and you can add other items as well. I usually add okra and sausage and get my sauce medium Cajun which delivers more flavor than anything I’ve ever had. You can order 3 different Cajun levels of sauce or choose a garlic butter sauce which is what my wife usually gets. Sauces can be tricky because if not handled delicately the sauce can drowned out the seafood but make no mistake about it the sauces do not steal the show here. The star of the seafood boil is unmistakably the seafood! The service is also very very good and you honestly feel appreciated. The only bad part of this experience for our family is leaving but that is easily remedied with...
Read moreit was the worst experience on my anniversary day Today, I dined at happy crab and had an unfortunately disappointing experience with their seafood offerings. The calamari I ordered as an appetizer was overcooked and rubbery, making it nearly impossible to chew. It lacked the tender texture that good calamari should have, and the accompanying dipping sauce did little to salvage the dish. The boil bag didn’t have much sea fruit few of mussels and very tiny crab legs with their crab legs were practically empty, with hardly any meat inside.. To make matters worse, the staff ( lady with short hair)kept pushing me to add more items to my order to charged an additional $15. I was shocked to find extra charges on my bill. Despite only ordering two drinks, I was charged an additional $22, meanwhile the cost of the drink is $5.95 for a Mr. Ginger soft drink. I paid cash and regret not to debate her and asked why! It was waste of money and time
"Why do I need to pay more tax if I bought the meal on Groupon and have already paid the tax? And can you explain how two drinks that cost $5.95 each end up being charged $22? Is the tax $10on $12? That's ridiculous. You are trying to steal from me and still acting like the victim." Why when I paid you cash, didn’t give me my...
Read moreI recently visited Happy Crab Restaurant and found it to be an underwhelming experience. The restaurant was empty, which should have been a red flag. We ordered 5-6 items in a Cajun boil bag, but the portions were surprisingly small and felt very cheap. The food itself was just okay, but the worst part was the service.
After finishing our meal, we asked for the check and mentioned our Groupon. The owner then informed us that they don't accept Groupon for the regular menu, and there was a special menu for Groupon users that we were unaware of. This wasn't stated anywhere when we purchased the Groupon last month. She conveyed this in a loud and threatening manner, which was highly unprofessional.
It became clear that this is a tactic to attract customers with Groupon deals and then refuse to honor them. This kind of trickery is unacceptable in the restaurant industry.
I wouldn't be surprised if many of the positive reviews were written by the owners and their friends. I advise against using Groupon at this establishment. It's not worth the price, and I do not recommend...
