We kicked off our evening by trying a couple of their cocktails, and let me tell you, they didn't disappoint. 🍹 I ordered the lemon drop cocktail, and it was a delightful balance of sweet and tart. On the other hand, the margarita, while enjoyable, was a touch sweeter than my usual preference. But here's the kicker – both drinks were only $10 each, making them a fantastic bargain! 💲💲 Moving on to the food, we decided to go all out with a variety of bar bites. The nachos were an absolute standout; priced at just $10, they were generously loaded with peppers, cheese, jalapeños, and came with a side of salsa that added a delightful zing. The value for money here was unbeatable, and I'd easily rate them a solid 8/10. 🧀🌶️🍅 Next up, we dug into the turkey club, which came with three slices of bread, lettuce, tomatoes, and crispy bacon. The accompanying fries were well-seasoned, and while they were good, they didn't quite reach the same level of excellence as the nachos. I'd give the turkey club a respectable 7/10. 🦃🥪🍟 Finally, we tried the potato skins, which were served in a set of three. They were pretty standard but managed to pack a punch in terms of seasoning. My only quibble was that they were on the smaller side, but they did hit the spot taste-wise 7/10. 🥔🧀 Overall, Public Tavern is a gem worth checking out, especially if you're a local looking for a great spot to catch a game, enjoy some arcade games with friends, and indulge in reasonably priced drinks and delicious bar bites. 🍻🏀🕹️ Food: 7/10 🍽️ Affordability: 9/10 💰 Ambiance: 8/10 🎶🎉

My visit to Public Tavern in Somerville was nothing short of fantastic. The establishment is not just a bar; it's an experience. The owner's enthusiasm and commitment to creating a welcoming atmosphere were evident throughout my time there. The positive vibes in the air set the tone for a memorable evening. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between modern aesthetics and a creative touch, making it a unique gem in Somerville's dining scene. What truly set Public Tavern apart was the impressive array of games available. I found myself indulging in a variety of options. This added layer of entertainment elevated the overall experience, making it more than just a place to grab a drink. The creative flair displayed in the decor and menu further emphasized the establishment's commitment to staying modern and innovative. In conclusion, Public Tavern is not just a bar; it's a destination. The combination of a great owner, positive atmosphere, diverse game selection, and a creative, modern approach makes it a must-visit spot in Somerville. If you're looking for a place that goes beyond the ordinary, Public Tavern is the hidden gem you've been searching for.

If you remember Goodtimes in Somerville, Public Tavern is like a mini version! I literally had flashbacks of going there in the 90s with my friends, whether it was to play pool or just hang out and watch a game. Wings, nachos, Buffalo egg rolls and burgers round out great options for karaoke night or watching the game.

0/10 experience. Bald bouncer is disrespectful, it was dead on a friday night, and the mixed drinks were terrible.

Played a few games of pool where people were in my way when taking shots. No problem, we just ask them to move and they do. Happens anywhere with a pool table.

Few hours later, after sitting in a stool for over an hour, the bald bouncer asked me to move out of the way of a group playing pool. I moved over a foot. Bouncer walks away. I talked to the guys playing pool and they didn't care I was there because I would swivel my stool and lean out of the way so they could hit their shot. I was joking and laughing with them.

Bald bouncer comes over a second time, legitimately yelling at me that i'm ignorant and rude for being in their way. The group playing pool is looking over awkwardly. I try to explain that I talked to the group and that they said they didn't mind. He says he doesn't care and tells me to move my stool because i'm causing them to miss shots. They missed 2/8 shots from that angle because they were casual players.

I stand up and start moving the stool like he asks until the bouncer yanks the stool out of my hands and moves it himself. He keeps yelling saying he asked me to move several times (he didn't). Our group leaves a few minutes later when he tells my group of 7 we're all no longer welcome.

I've never been yelled at like that before in my life. I'm not only embarrassed for him, but for the business for hiring...
