I came to Wolfgang Steakhouse for my birthday. This is not a restaurant that we can afford on a regular occasion, but something we did for a special night. We ordered the crab cake appetizer, along with a NY strip steak and a Porterhouse for 2, with mashed potatoes, sauteed mushrooms and asparagus. My boyfriend and I each only had one plate of food, the exact amount of food they served us each upon the food arriving at the table. We asked for the rest to be wrapped for us to take home. We did not open the leftovers again until Sunday afternoon when we were ready to eat them. Upon opening them, each steak was in a different container, and the third container had only asparagus. Our mashed potatoes and mushrooms were both missing. I called when the restaurant opened Sunday afternoon/evening and spoke to the hostess who said the manager was on the phone and would call me right back. After an hour I heard nothing and called again. She said they were "waiting to hear from the head manager" and proceeded to put me on hold. She came back a second later and said that they were trying to find out who our servers were that evening so they could figure out the situation and that the manager would call me back the next afternoon. Today at 5:00 I still had not heard from anyone so I called again. I asked to speak to a manager and the hostess put me on the phone with one. His name was James. I explained the whole situation and all he says is "the head manager wasn't here yesterday, but he is now". I said "so what can we do about the situation?" He said "come in and I will give you some mashed potatoes and mushrooms". I explained that the rest of the food is gone and we don't live close and definitely do not want to drive there for just mashed potatoes and mushrooms. We were hoping to get a refund since the side dishes are $13.95 each and we only had a small scoop of each. He said he can try to refund us or we can come in to get the money so I said okay and he immediately tried to hang up. I asked him if he was going to try now or how I would know if I was getting my refund or if I had to come in. He said "well now you're asking me to do a whole investigation. It took you 2 days to realize your food was missing. You ate here Friday and did not call until Sunday. You probably ate most of them so I can refund you for 1." So now he is changing his original offer of a full refund for the 2 sides. I promptly explained that I did not believe I needed to check to confirm all my food was in the bags upon leaving such a high end restaurant and we were not ready to eat them until Sunday and that I should not be required to go out of my way to get something that is rightfully mine. He then said next time I come in he would give me mashed potatoes and mushrooms and I told him we definitely would not be back. Again, his name was JAMES and I highly recommend visiting a different location of this restaurant. Not once did he apologize for the mistake on the part of the restaurant or apologize for the inconvenience this caused us. We spent $280 at their restaurant and wanted to enjoy the food we did not finish especially after spending so much money. Unfortunately, that is not the case. We will continue to visit the New York locations, but steer clear...
Read moreHow this location was explained to me was fine dining. As soon as I walked toward the front door I knew there where going to be a lot of hoity-toity people. So people that think they are better than you. Keyword is think here. As we walked in we received no welcome from the hostess. She and those around her instead gave us this "what are you doing here look". We should have walked out then. We had to then wait for them to set up our table even though we had reservations. SMH! The hostess took us to a more closed in section of the restaurant which had a large TV with people sitting in front of it so you could barely watch it. It was extraordinary how loud the music was, almost deafening. I had to nearly yell to hear my date. The people in the room were just as loud too. Fine dining atmosphere the music is loud enough to hear but low enough that you can have a conversation. The music at this location is something you would hear at a club or bar. There were men around no one pulled out my chair so I sat myself. I had with a dirty plate, water stained cutlery, and glasswear. I can forgive the water staines but not the dirty plate. I was so disgusted at this point, I wish I left at the door. My date was upset because he really wanted to have a good date and impress me. I asked for a new plate. Then put my napkin on my lap disgusted and angry though staying calm on the surface. So when it came time to order which was a ridiculous long for our waiter to come to the table. We get bottles of water and drinks. We know we wanted filet mignon. My date ordered med rare I ordered well done. Sometimes I order med well because I have never received a med well burger or steak because it always comes out well done which I love. Yes I know it is outrageous to some that I love well done steaks and burgers, I apologize for the harm I have caused you and your soul. I don't eat pink meat. Our meal finally comes out and my steak is butterflied. Here I become upset. Now if the case is that you as the chef decided to butterfly meat you need to put it on the menu or have your front of the house people trained to tell the guest that you do. This condescending moron that may have been the maitre d for that evening made it seem as if it was my fault for not knowing. I was not told by the waiter that steaks come butterflied at a higer cooking temp and it was not on the menu. I almost lost it. Though stayed calm for the sake of my date though internally screamed: You use a thermometer to check the internal temperature not cut the meat open you unpolished cretin! My steak is sent back and the cook are told not butterfly my steak (thankfully). I get this overcooked steak even though I ordered well done (yes there is a difference) the delicious asparagus saved my meal. My date got potato ribbons as a side. My date's steak was perfect for him. I could not wait to get out of that restaurant. The experience nearly ruined our night out. This place is ostentatious and will never get another penny out of me. The Irish man of smaller stature made my night with his personality, compliments, and shared grief of our terrible service issues. As well as the other people in our section voiced their...
Read moreThis Wolfgang's Steakhouse was our go to steakhouse for special occasions and have been there several times over the years. It is well over an hour away from us so when we make the drive there it is because we are celebrating something.
I don't know if Wolfgang stopped paying attention to this location, or what, but it is certainly not what it used to be.
Our waiter, took our drink order, and he prompted us to see if we were ready to place our food order, he came out once with the appetizers and we never saw him again. We we had to flag anyone that was available down to help us.
Our order: Appetizers: Calamari, Bacon, and each of us ordered the Lobster Bisque Entre: Myself Ribeye (medium rare), my wife filet mignon (medium). Sides Onion Rings, and Lobster Mac and Cheese. Appetizers the calamari and the bacon. The bacon was excellent, but the calamari, although cooked correctly, was rather flavorless.
They apparently forgot our soups because they brought out our steaks and sides. We pointed out we had not received our soups, so they took back the steaks and after 20 minutes finally brought out our soups.
The bisque was good, once we finished our soups we then waited another 20 minutes the steaks to come out.
When they came out and it was clear that they took the ones which were now cooked and ready to serve over 40 minutes ago and reheated them.
My Ribeye was past medium rare and more medium and had a burnt taste to parts of it, but it wasn't too bad so I ate it. My wife's Filet came out welldone. When we tried to point out it was over cooked, the waiter that we were able to flag down pulled out his phone and used it as a flashlight trying to highlight the small spot where there was some pink in the meat saying "it's just the lighting here that makes it look like it is over."
She took a taste and spit it out, and we checked the bottom of the filet and it was burnt on the bottom to the point it left black flakes on the plate. We flagged down a waiter and they replaced the filet with a new one, and that one came out slightly burnt and tough.
Everyone else got their leftovers packaged up for them nicely, we were handed the empty containers. We saw the manager floating around, he stopped and talked to the table next to us, and completely ignored our table.
You would think after the first misstep when they brought out the entres and forgot about our soups, he would have come by, but he didn't
You would think that least after we had to send back one of the steaks he would come by, but he didn't.
As we were leaving he was talking to the hostess as we walked past, and he didn't even acknowledge us or that we were leaving. Just before making it completely out the door, I stopped and asked him "are you the manager?" and he said he was, and I gave him a quick overview of our terrible dining experience. He tried to offer us a drink or dessert for our troubles, but I informed him we simply were just not going to come back.
I don't know what's happened to this place. It used to be an amazing steak house with top notch steaks perfectly cooked every time, and service that matched the price tag. It's obviously just a shadow of what it was just...
