I went for a massage on Sat Sept 20, 2025. I was put in a room, following the owner, who works the front desk. She had earlier asked me to come back as they were busy. When I came back, she was on the phone, but had me then follow her to the room. The girl she assigned to me had asked me to do 90 min, I thought ok, being I been there before many times and the girls there do a really good massage. But not 2 min later, the lady at the front desk was taking that girl out of my room, as I am already on the table, and she starts to push on my back, two min later a guy comes in and he's doing the massage. I don't know if these two are husband/wife, brother/sister, relatives, or just friends in business together, but he runs the one in Somerville called Sunrise Massage at 75 West Main Street Somerville, NJ 08876. The massage was torture. Not only was he not my original masseuse, I was changed masseuse twice while I am already set on the table. He was massaging angrily, rough, felt like trying to break my bones, at a point I said, "I think I just died on the table." I was frozen as the experience occurred. I never thought to yell, get up, just frozen in sheer pain. This was an assault. I did not ask for deep tissue, clear your meridian, take your skin off the bones massage. I try my best to take care of my selfcare being a spec ed teacher of the emotionally disturbed/autistic, and look for peace and calm. This experience was the exact opposite and the bruising on my arms from this torture is the proof of how poorly and rudely I was taken care of. When I went back to get my closure, to show what he did, and my hope is to protect anyone else from this person's hands, I was told, "Your meridian was closed, now it's open." This business...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's important to approach any business and its staff with openness and understanding. However, the service my wife and I received during our most recent visit tested this philosophy. Having previously enjoyed a wonderful massage session, we returned with high expectations. We booked a pair of 2 x 1 1/2 hour massages, which were satisfactory, albeit not exceptional.
The true disappointment came at the conclusion of our appointment. After extending an 18% gratuity, we were shocked when an employee suggested this was insufficient and harass us for more. I provided another 5% to which they were still unsatisfied with. Their presumption did not end there; they proceeded to question our satisfaction with the service, implying our tip reflected dissatisfaction.
We were understandably perplexed and chose to depart promptly after a polite but firm thank you. For those seeking a stellar spa experience without feeling coerced into excessive tipping, I would recommend looking elsewhere. This establishment, unfortunately, seems to prioritize profit over customer comfort and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter being on my feet constantly from December 23rd to the 25th doing grocery shopping, prepping and cooking for my family for both Christmas Eve and. Christmas Day, I ended up getting lower back pains and cramping on both thighs at the end of the day.
Today, December 26th, I decided to go to Sunrise Spa to get a deep tissue massage and Iām glad I did. Yuki, the massage therapist assigned to me is highly skilled. She has strong and firm hands yet gentle when she runs her hands on my back and other sore areas of my body. The best part was when she helped me did some leg and hip stretching. That was such a...
