I've gotten Halls Pizza numerous times but I've really only had one problem, and it was last night (6/7/2025). I walked in said I was here to pick up a paid for online order under my name, Robert. The guy at the counter grabs a pizza box and a foam container, which I thought was odd since I ordered 14 inch pepperoni and sausage and some cheesy breadsticks which normally both come in cardboard pizza boxes. He then opened the foam box and it was garlic bread. I just shrugged it off, their garlic bread is good, it's about the same price and I'd rather just get home. I asked for some paper plates and the guy helping said "Sure, how do you want to pay?". I've never had to pay for paper plates before but that Orange Chicken in office has kinda effed up the economy so not really all that surprising to be asked to pay a buck for them, I tell him card and he says you can go ahead and tap my card. I do so and I'm then show a screen saying I just paid $23! I immediately ask what did I just pay for and he said "your order". I then told the guy helping me, no that doesn't make sense, I paid for my food when I ordered using the Toast app. The guy got immediately argumentative saying that's my order it says my name on the receipt. I look at the receipt and the name showing is for a "Roberta" not a "Robert" and the order isn't even right (who the hell orders a pepperoni sausage pizza with nacho cheese sauce?). I reiterate explain thats not my name nor my order and the guy doubled down saying it was. No, dumba**, I know my own name, I've had it for 30+ years. I had to get my phone and pull up the toast app and show him my actual order receipt. The manager then comes over to see what's going on and I explain the issue, she looks at whatever kitchen management system they use and said they'll remake my order and refund the charge. I honestly should have just told them to refund me for both orders cause sitting and waiting for 10-15 minutes for them to remake my order just sucked. I finally got my pizza and when they handed it over they gave such an insincere "sorry for the mix up" it just pissed me off further. I won't be back anytime soon, which blows because the pizza and cheesy bread were actually quite good, but that service left an even worse taste in my mouth, and now I have to watch it make sure I actually do get a refund in...
Read moreWe don't get up to the South Bend area often, but the last two times we have we've been to Hall's Kitchen. It's been a perfect experience both times. A part of the family works at this location, and he is such a kind and welcoming guy, to the point that I'd probably still eat here, even if the food wasn't nearly as good.
Luckily that isn't necessary because the food is fantastic. Easily my favorite breadsticks ever. They are light and fluffy and surprising flavorful. Dip them in their packaged garlic sauce (which is great in itself!) for a truly amazing bite!
But the pizza...my, my, the pizza. It's wonderful, and I'll tell you why. You ever notice that all pizzas can be good but have one flaw that makes them just good? Maybe the toppings are wonderful but the dough sucks. Or the dough is great but they use a cheap cheese and it just ruins the crust? Well, I'm happy to say, Hall's Kitchen has figured it out. The crust is probably top three best crusts I've ever had, and I couldn't tell you the other two. Similiar to the breadsticks, it's airy and light, just ever so slightly chewy for a nice texture, with some slight crisp giving it variety.
Their toppings are also obviously high quality. The cheese is dense and and moist and flavorful, they use cuppy pepperonis which are delicious. The pizza does come out slightly greasy (which is usually a downer for me) but it's not enough to bother me. We will be trying different toppings on our next trip.
I also have to give a massive shout out to their ranch dressing. My partner is one of those freaks who likes ranch on their pizza (just kidding, kinda) and honestly, it might very well be the best ranch I've ever had (and I'm kind of a ranch snob) as again, like everything else, it's a perfectly thick consistency to stick to what you dip it in, and bursting with flavor, especially for a ranch dressing.
I can't stress how much I love this place. It's perfect from every angle. Service, vibe, food, and PRICE! It's so affordable we wish we had one close to home.
I can't speak to any of their others items (they're apparently know for subs too) but I'd bet a lot of money their subs and pastas are just as excellent.
If you are in South Bend, I think you would be doing yourself a disservice by not giving Hall's...
Read moreThank you for an excellent, hot, balanced pizza that didn’t require a mortgage to order. Even more thank you for a straight forward price (I’m so sick of being fee’ed to death I was surprised it didn’t happen here). If I were better off I’d likely order more often than I should.
If you’re looking for a fantastic pizza without the usual astronomical price, this is the place to try. I’m certainly happy I did.
First time and I will be a repeat customer. Thanks for being open as late as you were and for taking my order at nearly close.
I’m difficult to impress and with all things considered, quality and price, delivery FASTER than expected, I’m definitely impressed.
Thank you.
Update:
I feel like I was bait and switched. TacoPizza for 10 but it still cost 20, was COLD, and was missing Doritos and lettuce. I always tip well too. I won’t be ordering again for a while if ever.
Update same day:
Offered a corrected pizza and allowed to claim it later. I’d have preferred to have had a stellar pizza like I usually get with the stuff I expected on it but the effort and quick response, is unusual in today’s business and demonstrates I am appreciated as a patron and customer. I am deeply grateful for this old school behavior and do plan to continue ordering pizza from them.
Thank you for your efforts.
“MY” favorite pizza is the Spicy BBQ but with chicken, bacon, and mushroom, instead of the three meats. Some day I may ask them to sprinkle red pepper on the sauce before the cheese… but too much ruins the pizza. It makes...
