Jack’s donut’s cinnamon rolls can be described as “succulent tasting.”
We live in Chicago and stay at the family’s vacation properties in Buchanan Michigan.
There are very few bakeries in the area that make really good donuts unless you like supermarket donuts. I looked around and located a few popular bakeries and was left wanting. I search online and saw Jacks Donuts. It was a 55 min drive each way. You know that you have a good donut addiction lol!
As I drove home I was tempted to try one of them. Well, sadly one of three did not make it home lol! I returned in a few weeks and purchased three more cinnamon rolls. You might wonder why 3? I love donuts and the purchase of 3 limits my over indulging, lol
Here are a few compelling reasons to stop by Jacks Donuts:
Very clean and up to date decor Friendly staff who eagerly want to serve you Wide selection of donuts Sitting areas if you want to relax while you are eating and drink a hot beverage Drive up window if you want to limit your human interaction due to a covid You can order in advance and pick in person or at the window
If you’re looking for an awesome bakery that makes really good yeast cinnamon rolls Jacks donuts is the place to visit.

Read moreI ordered very specific items according to the menu on door dash. What I ordered was not in stock and items were completely missing from my order. I had the order replaced through door dash. The store manager Aubrey called me back and lost her MIND because on the upper inside lid of the box, they wrote a note saying what I ordered wasn’t available and they hoped I liked their substitution choices. I did not like them. So instead of the manager apologizing and trying to correct their first assumed substitutions and missing items, she began to talk to me like I had done something to her and her family and hung up on me while I was still talking never confirming what items I actually wanted since she didn’t have what I ordered. She crazy as hell! I’ll be disputing the charge to my card immediately for this nasty food she decided she wanted to give me that wasn’t what I paid for then got mad at me because she assumed incorrectly. WOW! Yikes. Never again, and this was my first time...
Read moreMeh. Not the worst donut place but I have to say the bar is pretty low here. Where are the crack of Dawn donut shops that could tempt even the most willed person? You know, the kind that make the stuff they sell in the store.
Maybe the sheer volume of options I had in Southern California and their intense competition for customers left me spoiled.
Maybe my own baking skills and my familiarity with whole, pronounceable ingredients lends a bias.
Or maybe it’s just a matter of knowing when a product truly hits a home run or not. What stuns me is that in the heart of the country the palate is largely a pretty low measure of fast food and stale products. I am still looking for a California style fritter. Don’t even get me started on the alternative flavors that could be found (blueberry, cherry, peach).
I may not be able to pay for a premium product often, but I sure as hell won’t pay a premium price for an average product...
