Live from South Bend, it’s the Manny’s Moment!
Spanning the globe to bring you a constant variety of sports… and landing squarely in the heart of South Bend, Manny’s isn’t just “Not Another Sports Bar” - it’s the Hall of Fame of Hangouts. If ESPN and Cheers had a baby, raised it on empanadas and craft cocktails, and taught it to love every sport from curling to cornhole, you’d get Manny’s.
The Play-by-Play From the moment you walk in, you’re hit with the roar of the crowd (okay, maybe it’s just your friends yelling at the screen), the scent of sizzling smash burgers, and the unmistakable vice of a place that knows how to throw down on game day. With a 165” screen that could double as a drive-in theater and a menu that’s part classic ballpark, part Latin flair (shoutout to Yada Yada Empanada), Manny’s is the kind of place where every bite feels like a buzzer-beater.
The Color Commentary “Do you believe in miracles?” Because Manny’s in one. Born from the legacy of a beloved black Lab named Manny - who never met a stranger and always had a smile - this bar is a tribute to joy, community, and the thrill of the game. It’s where die-hard fans and casual sippers unite under one roof, cheering, laughing, and occasionally crying into their beers when their team blows a 20-point lead.
The Sideline Scoop Order the hot dog and you’re in the bleachers at Wrigley. Grab the empanadas and your pitch-side in Madrid. That smash burger? It’s fourth-and goal, and you’re the MVP. Not into sports? No worries. Manny’s has pool tables, darts, and quick shot basketball (yes, it counts now), so you can still rack up wins while the game plays on.
The Post-Game Interview If hospitality were a sport, Manny’s would be undefeated. The staff treats you like you just hit the game-winner in overtime, and the drinks are so good they deserve their own trophy ceremony. Whether you’re in a jersey or just here for the vibes, Manny’s is where South Bend comes together - diverse, inclusive, and always ready for the next big moment.
Final Scored: Manny’s 100 - Boring Bars 0 Grab your crew, raise a glass, and let the games begin. Because at Manny’s, every night is a championship...
Read moreA Most Gracious Account of Mine Experience at This Esteemed House of Victuals:
At first encounter, I did award this establishment five stars in mine esteem, yet in a moment of self-questioning, I did lower it to but four. For truly, what mortal enterprise deserveth five stars entire? Yet upon deeper contemplation, and an inward search of mine own standards, I saw fit to restore the fifth star; for I found naught to lament nor criticise — and in sooth, that is the measure by which I do gauge excellence.
The space itself is well-appointed and pleasing to the senses; the staff, most notably Mistress Karen who did serve us, was attentive in all the right proportions — neither obtrusive nor neglectful, but in that perfect balance which is so rare and so praiseworthy.
This day, I did find myself in the company of the honourable Knights of Technological Valor, a merry and learned fellowship, and we did stop in for a midday repast. Let it be known: this house is not always open for luncheon — pray, consult their hours ere thou venture!
The gentlemen partook of empanadas and fowl wings, whilst I, seeking nourishment both hearty and healthful, did order the Buffalo Bowl. Verily, it was a delightful assemblage of all that I craved, and the spicy hummus — oh! such a savoury and piquant delight. I did sample an empanada from one of my companions — crisp it was, and pleasing to the tooth. One of the company did declare the chicken empanada most excellent with considerable enthusiasm.
The space itself is laid out with thought: there is a chamber wherein tables of billiards reside, and in a distant nook, several contraptions resembling games of the basket-ball, which were enjoyed by both other patrons and my noble fellows as we awaited our fare — which, I must note, was brought forth in good and timely fashion.
In conclusion, I do declare — with neither jest nor embellishment — that I shall most...
Read moreAtmosphere/environment is great. Pool tables, giant TV, and some arcade basketball games. Also the whole staff is constantly checking on tables so you're always getting service which is a plus. Unfortunately they lost us at the food. I know its bar food but even for that it was just okay. Cuban was a normal sub/sandwich on basic bread (heavy on the mustard flavor, not saying good or bad just an observation) and the buffalo chicken wrap was mostly lettuce with very little chicken. From other reviews it looks like the order is wings, so we'll give it a try next time. We also got the churros for dessert and they were all over fried to the point that we had 1 or 2 and left the rest on the table. They also come with a caramel drizzle on top, but there wasn't much oh the drizzle, and actually think it would be better if they served the caramel as a side for dipping. Finally, there's also a limited draft selection (6 I think). Not sure if they plan to expand the draft list, but it does seem a little small for a sports bar. Price for a beer is on the higher side of the average price for beers at restaurants but I'd say it's a fair price. Overall, if you want a place to watch sports with friends and have a drink, this is a great place for it. I would just recommend eating at home before you go. I really hope this place succeeds because the city needs something like this downtown and hope these things get fixed as time goes on. Hopefully I'll be able to update this review to 5 stars...
