I can't blame the people working there. They were helpful and good at their jobs.
The food was massively disappointing. We got bread sticks with cheese and a large pizza.
The bread sticks had a decent dough but no real flavor. They put oil on it and then a lot of mozzarella cheese (not all of which melted) that didn't stick to all of the bread because of the oil. We were hungry, but they were just plain with no real flavor. They came with marinara sauce that was seriously disappointing. Just tomato with a tiny hint of some other stuff but really not enough. It was just sad.
The pizza...I'm not sure what that was, but it wasn't pizza. I've had better school pizza, even frozen pizzas from the store. Terrible sauce, not enough cheese (as opposed to the bread sticks, which was weird), not cooked enough on top so that the ham wasn't really cooked.
Where was the oregano or basil? Do they not know what garlic is? Not even enough salt in any of it, and how is that even possible? I thought we might be in trouble when we walked in and smelled cheese but no herbs. Do patrons have to bring their own Italian herbs mix and garlic salt to make the food palatable? My husband has been doing that with the leftovers which I can't even bring myself to eat.
We won't be back. Maybe we are spoiled coming from Michigan and knowing what good pizza is, but this...
Read moreI was raised on New York &New Jersey pizza. I sole mio is the best I’ve had south of Jersey. It makes me feel like I’m a kid/teen again visiting family. And they treat everyone like family. My son is autistic and prob the 2nd time I’d taken him with us he started getting overwhelmed and when I went to take him outside one of the staff came out to talk to us and help him acclimate. We go maybe twice a year because of the distance from where we live so we’re def not regulars. But they treat us like family everytime. I have never had anything from there that is less than amazing. For example I don’t eat veggies on pizza (or anything else mostly lol) but I completely smashed a mostly veggie pizza my ex got. They’re good feels like home. I recommend them to anyone. And for special need parents that may be reading this: they are amazing with my son. They don’t get annoyed by his endless questions. When he starts getting overwhelmed they have cut the music to help. They have never gotten upset or even a little exasperated with his habits or outbursts. They are amazing and safe for...
Read moreWe don't live in the area but tried O Sole Mio while passing through. We thought this would be a nice community sit-down Italian restaurant. Nope. Order@ the window, get your own drink and sit down. All the staff were very pleasant!
The salad was crisp and fresh w/ pkg. dressing. Breadsticks w/ cheese were standard. We had meatballs&sausage, manicotti and spaghetti w/ meatballs. All were mediocre. Spaghetti was swimming in watery sauce because it was not well drained. Pasta overcooked, not al dente. We were disappointed.
However, everyone else seemed to order pizza and it looked really good. Maybe a name change to "pizzaria" would better set...
